Seriously- who on the commanders actually thinks it's wise to add this guy to their locker room?

You still don't seem to get it in terms of the contract ramifications. At least you finally* acknowledge in your post the 49ers can't keep him on the left-squad list as a punitive measure. They can do that provided he never shows up… and in that case his dead cap charges get delayed.

LOL at thinking he's going to jail over that charge. Come back to Earth my man. *I hope you just mean he'd get arrested, booked, and have an arraignment*

As far as contract we are fine as is. We won't be paying BA another dime. The accordion math of paid out bonus is already prorated into future cap hits and he is on the left squad list until he returns. At that point IF he returns to 49ers HQ and not sped by it for clicks he will then have cuffs slapped on him by SCPD so he can answer for his warrant and then once he is released by the cops the 49ers will release him so we don't have to pay him

The 49ers will then utilize some of that $72M in cap space they've created in order to absorb that signing bonus they've paid him as an immediate cap hit as the accordion math is then altered due to them cutting him.

My point is the 49ers will hold him unless he returns to collect money after the cops are done with him or a team foolishly trades us something for this train wreck

BA foolishly overplayed his hand and as for the 49ers we have nothing to lose as players come and go and the show goes on. BA got beside himself and isn't even listening to his agent and he's gonna FAFO

First, Lombardi is an idiot who never has an original thought about football. Maybe some on restaurants, but that's about it. All he does is take others' information and regurgitate it, while trying to sound smart. Second, in theory the team can keep him on the list indefinitely if he continues to refuse to report. He would not get paid game salaries and could be fined. However, he is due a $25 million option bonus on September 1st that WOULD get paid unless he is cut or traded. Jed won't spend money on actual upgrades for the team, he is not going to throw away $25 million just to keep Aiyuk hostage longer and prove a point. So September 1st is the realistic deadline the team has for doing something.

He has to show up to collect is my understanding. Dude is currently on the left squad list until he actually RETURNS to the squad. Right now Aiyuk ain't getting paid because he's on the quit football list. Now 9/1/26 is a trigger date but I have said all along the 49ers would d*** him like he d***** us as they should.

If he wants to force his release then he needs to return to football and to the 49ers prior to TC and deal with the police then get cut by us so he can make Commanders TC and have a chance at a season

He ain't getting released unless he can suck it up and come see Jed John and Kyle and / or the Commanders trade for him and I doubt that happens

Right now for the 49ers it's all fun and games until real money starts to be an issue. For BA he just left money on the table and I know we're pumped to bury both him and the Commanders once we play them

You weren't there for Pillbusta's original argument, so you're missing context. The argument was proposed as a long term plan to ruin Aiyuk's career (regardless of Aiyuk reporting, and the financial impact to the 49ers). It was silly and not at all what's happening now.

On a side note, not releasing Aiyuk here in the immediate short term may inadvertently be punitive to Aiyuk, and his future team, but it's also in line with their interests.

I was there for your argument. You said he'd be gone by now but he still here. My whole point is we d*** him like he d***** us. We keep him until our hand is forced because we can. And quite honestly this is uncharted territory as far as I've personally witnessed

if you're purely looking at this situation through the 49ers lense - it doesn't make any sense to release him, especially before june 1 - anything pre june 1 puts more restriction on their cap space. Since it's past june 1, they can now break up his dead cap money over 2 seasons instead of eating it this year.

also, its not costing the 49ers anything to have him right now (besides the 90th roster spot). Theres only 2 ways he is leaving the team:
1. A trade. Which benefits the 49ers.
2. he comes to camp, passes a physical, and forces the niners hand.

if he doesn't show up, he remains on the "didn't report" list and they dont owe him a dime and can keep him for the remainder of the contract.

Also, if he misses camp (or anything mandatory) - the niners can fine him and collect money back. lol even though I believe they're going to file a grievance once he's off the team and recoup some of the money they paid him (for various reasons).

Just doesn't make any sense for the niners to release him at this point. not salary cap wise, not without seeing if they can get a trade, not without seeing if they can just keep him on the list indefinitely.

Exactly how I feel. But Smokey told me he'd be released by 6/1/26 but I see he's still here. He wish he was released but all I see is a guy who left the NFL yet he's under contract with the 49ers with a warrant out for his arrest for speeding by 49ers HQ. The but could've hit one of the Faithful or a dog 🐕 for Christs sake. Oh the horror …

I agree but they're not keeping him past Sept 1 unless somehow they don't owe him the bonus due on 9/1?

I think it'll be tough to step onto commanders a week before season starts and contribute immediately but I don't think WR is the most complicated position to step in on. The big concern is his knee & conditioning and no one knows on either of those fronts

How are you gonna pay a player that's left the NFL? He's on the left squad list in the NFL until he comes back to see Jed John and Kyle eyeball to eyeball and whisker to whisker. Until he mans up to come see these little boys we ain't obligated to pay him s***!

He stupidly thought we had to let him go 6/1/26 like the media idiots were reporting but we don't as he's on the left squad list. The squad has a contract with him that's voided his guarantees so he has to show up to collect

This is why now all of a sudden this idiot bird brain that hasn't even spoken to his own agent didn't know we don't have to let him go until he comes and sees us and he makes us

I am thoroughly enjoying this back and forth and I'm entertained prior to the season starting. Besides that I'm glad BA is now talking so that our coaches and players can be sure to son him like he tried to son us by calling us lil boys

We will find out come game day about that
He could have hit Sourdough too

Talks like a dropout

This guy is nuts to walk away from $26 mil. I mean grow up already. Pay your speeding ticket and get your ass back in the building and with the program. At this point the 49ers simply want a return in investment which you cannot blame them. Aiyuk isn't doing the things that the team wants for him to get back into playing shape and you have to wonder if he wants to play at all. If he shows up in camp ready to rock and they see him healthy they'll either trade him or cut him due to the injury but at least they'll know and other teams will know if he's worth trading for

I'm sure the commanders will because Jayden will vouch for him. The contract won't be much or will be heavily incentive based.

There have been guys that quit on team mid game and got another chance (dionte Johnson). It'll be interesting to see what happens

I keep seeing this 9/1 date as it means something.

wouldn't he have to be on the roster to collect? He can't just show up 9/1 with out going through the reinstatement process or just simply be alive on 9/1
Instead of a multi million dollar contract extension the 49ers should've given him a book on socializing and how to improve it, would've been more valuable to him.

such a weird dude

I don't think anyone knows for sure. So let's say it is 9/1 date and he doesn't show, so nothing paid. Then he shows up on.... 9/3, whenever, once he reports in after that are the 49ers immediately on the hook?

No fans know all the details but I guess we'll find out within the next few months

I thought he was going to be released at the start of the new league year in March. Didn't expect the 49ers to hold onto him in the hopes of getting a trade because it seemed clear as day a trade is not coming.

I'll remind you that you said the 49ers should hold onto him for the next 10 years on the left-squad list. I tried to point out to you why that was a fantasy, and also wouldn't be in the 49ers interests. Based on your continuing posts, I still don't think you see why.

You keep mentioning we don't have to pay him until he shows up, and that he will never receive another dime from the 49ers. Those things are true, but future pay is not the only concern for the 49ers. The 49ers also want to clear the books of his contract (dead cap). His contract and those dead cap charges do not go away when he's on the left-squad reserve list. The contract is paused.

So we'll do this for potentially a few more months, or until a team trades for him.
I am beginning to wonder if any team will pick him up, even for peanuts. Dragging on for ever, this one!

To me, the biggest question is how he will respond physically after suffering a severe knee injury and missing a season and a half. He'll be a nice cheap flyer though.
