So I'm not saying Aiyuk went through this exact situation..... but if this is true about how Andrew Luck's career ended with the Colts, then it's another example of how far stubbornness can go with Front Offices regarding players.

Ex-teammate says at the end, Andrew looked like he was ready to play that season... Andrew brought his own medical staff because he didn't trust the one that was there anymore... the same staff who also supposedly had something to do Peyton Manning's injury issue. There was speculation that the staff there didn't like the idea of a player bringing his own staff.. and that staff been there hella long. So they have some type of relationship with the Front office.

Something could have been said... I'm not sure if they gave Andrew an ultimatum, l doubt that...but they might have disrespected Andrew enough (in his eyes) that it wasn't worth it to play under them anymore....knowing they have his rights going forward and it could be the end of his career. And as the Ebron says, with someone like Andrew Luck.. if he asked the Front Office to get Jesus himself for help, the Front Office should have convincingly yes sir we'll try!

That's great and all that but one small problem…

Aiyuk simply didn't communicate any of his issues with the team. Pretty sure Bosa used his own folks to rehab his ACL. They just have to keep the team informed and make sure they're not doing anything that's not ok by them.

Aiyuk for whatever reason knew all this and simply didn't bother to check in. There is no excusing that type of behavior imo.
I can't see any team trading for him - especially w/those injuries.

IMO, they'll just wait until he's released and maybe scoop him up.

If he doesn't show up to 49ers office, does the 49ers have to release him? Or would the 49ers just keep him on the left-the-team list?

If he does not report they can just keep him as non reported all season long and it doesnt count as a contract year and his salary does not hit the cap too. I would make him report before they do anything at all with him. Just keep him off to the side

Andrew Luck already said this wasn't true fyi
I told Smokey that we'd be doing this and looks as if I was right. Aiyuk will be on the left squad list until he shows up at 49ers HQ and that serves him right
I've heard it would be best for the niners if he stays on the roster but just doesn't show up. I'm talking the length of the contract. No pay no cap hit. If he reports will they let him in the building? Another injury in the team building and they're liable. So he's on the roster on game one, walks into the building and 2026 salary is guaranteed? Getting kinky.

When he reports they just cut him at that time.
