yeah, i've thought about this. Not only will the 49ers go after his signing bonus, penalties may be involved because now the team lost it's ability to use that money in a different way because Aiyuk broke his contractual agreement. It'll cost Aiyuk a ton of money to hire lawyers.

This may have already happened and we just don't know yet but I imagine the team is going to take this as far as they can to make sure no player even considers doing this again. Both parties not saying a word about this may actually be because there's currently legal action taking place. That would make sense.

it's a sad story cause there is a real chance Aiyuk will never play football again and may lose most of his money, if not nearly all of it.

approx $48M of his $60M career earnings came from that second contract. The only part he may be able to keep is year 1 (approx $24M) but you have to cut that number in half and think about the money he's blown on cars and stuff and also factor in paying for lawyers to fight this. I find stuff like this interesting. I don't want to see the man broken but no way these contracts aren't written in a way to overly protect the team from large investments like this.

Idk if too sad because the guy was an idiot, immature jerk.. always cryin, pissin', moanin', kicking his little shorts around, driving recklessly and a TMZ drama queen. Brock-smart with money..Brandon..he is gunna have to pawn all his s**t. Nobody forced him to go on a dumbass spending spree.

Last year the Mandatory Minicamp was June 10-11 and I would expect BA to show up for the Minicamp if still on the roster. That probably is the release deadline...

This is the kind of stuff that makes it hard to be a sports fan these days. Players are making obscene amounts of money. One season and they have more than any of us will ever see in our life. Yet some still find reasons to complain, hold out or ask for trades. Really sad.

Dean Jones is so upset with the 49ers and the so-called "pettiness" that John Lynch has displayed when it comes to Brandon Aiyuk. CLOWN

Aiyuk will stay at least until his option is due and even then he needs to force our hands by showing up to HC. We spare him no quarter and he's gonna obtain no favors from us. Just as I had predicted

I'm not saying i feel bad for the guy. lol just as a whole, it's a sad story. if this was a book - it'd be under "trajedy". super talented, worked his ass off for years to get to the top of his game, bad injury and then self destructs. loses generational wealth. lol it's self inflicted, for sure. No one really wins here - not even the team. we lost a ton of cap space, a really good player - especially when we needed him most last season. etc whole thing just sucks. lol

I wonder if Aiyuk is still required to show up for mini camp, training camp, team meetings etc. cause if he is - can't he get a ton of fines before sept 1? that's the stuff I've been interested in figuring out. If that's the case, which I don't see why it wouldnt be - he may be about to lose a whole lot more money. like another poster said - i wouldn't be surprised if we are going after his signing bonus money too. I saw a team do that to a star player who retired early - the team requested he return a portion of the signing bonus cause the signing bonus was for the duration of the contract and the player didn't fulfil it. (I think it was calvin johnson).

Edit: it was calvin Johnson https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/19570233/calvin-johnson-repaid-1-million-signing-bonus-detroit-lions

Yup, what he did is not ok, glad we're not letting him off the hook so easy
