yeah, i've thought about this. Not only will the 49ers go after his signing bonus, penalties may be involved because now the team lost it's ability to use that money in a different way because Aiyuk broke his contractual agreement. It'll cost Aiyuk a ton of money to hire lawyers.
This may have already happened and we just don't know yet but I imagine the team is going to take this as far as they can to make sure no player even considers doing this again. Both parties not saying a word about this may actually be because there's currently legal action taking place. That would make sense.
it's a sad story cause there is a real chance Aiyuk will never play football again and may lose most of his money, if not nearly all of it.
approx $48M of his $60M career earnings came from that second contract. The only part he may be able to keep is year 1 (approx $24M) but you have to cut that number in half and think about the money he's blown on cars and stuff and also factor in paying for lawyers to fight this. I find stuff like this interesting. I don't want to see the man broken but no way these contracts aren't written in a way to overly protect the team from large investments like this.
Idk if too sad because the guy was an idiot, immature jerk.. always cryin, pissin', moanin', kicking his little shorts around, driving recklessly and a TMZ drama queen. Brock-smart with money..Brandon..he is gunna have to pawn all his s**t. Nobody forced him to go on a dumbass spending spree.
