Bros are making Grant Cohn a topic of conversation in an Aiyuk thread.

most of these posters don't even know what's happened before Shanahan
Your interpretation of the other posters thoughts aside, my example was from 10 years ago and involved people in the same positions with the organization they are in today.

Grant Cohn is a douche!!!
I'm just guessing here about why Grant is this dumb. But I'm pretty confident his parents are closely related.
Grant is a smart guy, that's why we're all talking about him. He has 2x the subscriber as Lombardi, so Grant's brand of opinion works. I'm not a fan, but I think he's quite sharp towards his end goal.
Being a narcissist troll doesn't take intelligence. It simply takes pandering to people just as dumb as you. Of which there are many examples on this very board. It's a corrosive feedback loop where dumb opinions inform dumb opinions which force more dumb opinions into the commons. It's not intelligence, it's the dumbing down of society for clout and clicks.
Yeah he's got tons of followers, but a low percentage are 49ers fans. He panders to our rivals and their fans. People are citing his recent report that has alll kinds of revisionist timelines in it regarding the Aiyuk saga that every Tom Dick and Harry are running with and it drives me nuts. I hate the man, have ZERO respect for him, and wish Kinlaw would have whooped his ass.
Pretty simple solution. If you like him then read his stuff. If you don't just ignore it. Not worth getting upset over what a writer says.
I agree.
It is good to have someone take a look at a thing from a little different angle. Echo chambers rarely create intellectual conversations.

That's what I would do. What's the hurry?! Keep him until you can't to see if you can get anything, anything.
There is no reason to release him now. Who knows what team may find themselves in a position after the draft that would motivate them to take a flyer at BA. It isn't costing any money to leave things status quo for now. In the future, even a 7th round pick is worth waiting for. Who knows, maybe get the Safety version of Brock Purdy.

Am I missing something? What team is taking on his contract let alone trade away anything? Only way I see that happening is if Aiyuk agrees to take a massive pay cut and we all know he's not doing that

i'm pretty sure that any team he signs with is going to pay him vet min (assuming we eventually cut him). if anyone takes a flier on him from us in a trade, they'll most likely work out the framework of a new contract before the trade is executed, would be my guess.
I'm usually pro players but in this situation, I think the team should make an example out of him. why cut him and give him a chance to go to a good situation when he left the whole team out to dry and screwed us?
by Sept 1 - very little cap space left and roster spots, specifically starters. he'll miss camp, new playbook etc.
I also believe that other teams will be careful with this situation as they want to make sure other players around the league don't see this as a viable option. it really wouldn't surprise me if he doesn't even get on a team. no team wants what Aiyuk did on their roster or anyone to think it'll work out for them in any way.

Someone will take a minimal risk for the potential upside. Not on the current contract of course.
Defensive backs are going to talk a lot of trash now. He's a sensitive guy, too. And we know how alpha males are when they perceive weakness.

Something else to keep in mind. It is likely the 49ers are going to go after a significant portion of Aiyuk's signing bonus - and lawyers would be involved. It's very possible that how the team handles this will be as much a legal issue, as a strategic one.

Probably because 25 catches for $50M and then the guy doesn't check in or fulfill reporting requirements as per his contract after being caked off with hella bread?

I agree and I hope that's what happens, he keeps the first two years pay outside of the guaranteed $ last year and the rest of the contract should be completely voided. There's a strong case to be made against him with all his antics on social media. He can't really just say "I needed to step away last year" it's become obviously malicious.

yeah, i've thought about this. Not only will the 49ers go after his signing bonus, penalties may be involved because now the team lost it's ability to use that money in a different way because Aiyuk broke his contractual agreement. It'll cost Aiyuk a ton of money to hire lawyers.
This may have already happened and we just don't know yet but I imagine the team is going to take this as far as they can to make sure no player even considers doing this again. Both parties not saying a word about this may actually be because there's currently legal action taking place. That would make sense.
it's a sad story cause there is a real chance Aiyuk will never play football again and may lose most of his money, if not nearly all of it.
approx $48M of his $60M career earnings came from that second contract. The only part he may be able to keep is year 1 (approx $24M) but you have to cut that number in half and think about the money he's blown on cars and stuff and also factor in paying for lawyers to fight this. I find stuff like this interesting. I don't want to see the man broken but no way these contracts aren't written in a way to overly protect the team from large investments like this.

If he can perform and wants to stay I don't really care. It's fine. Needs to pass a psych test.

It could go all the way until training camp starts in July. They can't lock him out so he can report and workout with the team and possibly risk injury. That would be the drop dead date since the 49ers will want resolution prior to training camp.
I am sure by that point they would just fail his physical and we end up with competing physicals
