Keep him on the roster until he finishes the contract.

No. If he doesn't want to be here, we won't keep him. I think we will keep him for now and see if any teams trade for him. If not, we will release him late in this offseason. Kind of a punishment so he won't be able to join a team early in FA to get good money and will miss a big portion of the offseason training with the new team.

Why not just keep him on the "left the team" list for the rest of his life, with no parole?

So if all of a sudden he decides to show up you just pay him at per the current contract? That would be overpaying him. What if he practice for a few days and got injured? Now you are stuck with an injury settlement.

If he shows up, his key card will never work again.

you guys got to keep up. There's a reinstatement process. He can't just show up like nothing happened.

This has been stupid of TJ.

Even if Aiyuk is in the wrong with the team (or if he fired/ghosted TJ), you don't throw your former player client under the bus.

Other established WRs might not work with TJ if he's going to be doing the media rounds, if they also have a falling out with him.

Only the ones that crash out and give up almost 30 million. I think TJ is good.
According to grant cohn on X he says the niners quit on aiyuk and that he left bc they quit on him.

There were very early rumors of front office unhappiness with the contract and with Shanahan pressing them to not trade Aiyuk to the Steelers. It is notable that afterwards Jed worked with the front office and Shanahan to make some decision making role clarification. The rumors probably affected Aiyuk, his late start showed in his poor production and then he got hurt. Although it was idiotic for Aiyuk to not comply with the contract provisions, he make it possible for the 49ers to move off the guarantees.

In any event, this is spilt milk under the bridge. He is not going to be on the final 53 whether it is by release (most likely) or by trade (less likely). The 49ers probably don't want to risk injury if he shows for mandatory offseason workouts (July?)
The guarantees got voided because Aiyuk didnt abide by the contract. The fact that the nflpa didnt fight what the 9ers did is admitting that as fact.

Aiyuk has only himself to blame.

Aiyuk had one job to do. Get his money that he fought tooth and nail for. He didn't do it because he felt some type of way. That's on him

They wanted to, but Aiyuk blocked it.

Usually even when folks are in the wrong regarding these things, they still try to fight it to get a less harmful decision. Aiyuk just wanted to get the hell away from the Front Office ASAP.
Still talking about this dude……..smh

If this is true, and he wants to play for us are you guys open to having him back on the roster?

I would be ok with it, he could help us in a big way if healthy and back to his old self.

If not, shut down his key card LOl
