No we need that money far more than overspending on free agents. We will save that money to pay the players we have and we will add talent via the draft and find gems in the second wave of FA like we always do

I think he's just not coming back from the injury the way he's expecting and doesn't want to step on the field and show everyone that. He needs to preserve his fa value as much as possible going into next year. So the interested teams will be bidding on the Brandon Aiyuk storage auctionn in '26.

That doesn't make sense, if that were the case he'd stick with the 9ers he's not going to be making anywhere near what we are obligated to pay him if he hit FA.
Maybe you're right though Ayuik knows he's not the same anymore pulled an Andrew Luck and whats to give all the money back...

Preserve his value? Dude gave up a $120 million contract because he doesn't want to do his rehab. All he had to do is show up and try and that would be his. He will likely never make that big of a contract again.

Add to that he's coming off a major injury and it's uncertain if he'll be as effective.

Pretty Much is committing career suicide. Seahawks, Pit and the Raiders come to mind as teams that would bring him in but Not at that $120M price tag.

Any one know his dead cap hit for 2026??

Not positive but I think it's 29 million in 26 if he's cut without a post June 1 designation. It's split over 26 and 27 if it is (16m in 26 and 13m in 27).

Sorry hit submit too soon, yes it would be the $13.3M in 2026, and the rest of the near $30M in 2027, but the 49ers would get back the prorated portion of his $24.9M option bonus in 2027.

He'll get released by us post June 1st and lose out on all the guaranteed money he originally signed for. Some team will sign him to a 1 year prove it deal for a few million. After that he'll be 29 looking for 1 last big contract assuming he played well enough on his 1 year prove it deal.

So probably not career suicide but he probably lost an opportunity at generation wealth assuming he wouldn't have got financial advise from OBJ but i wouldn't put any stupid decision past him at this point.
