Oh please, Jerry was a diva all day. He just didn't have instagram to talk about it. Fans get all emotional over TO, basically running him out of town because they were butt hurt. Vernon Davis was a diva all the same.

Not every single player has to "shut up and dribble" not every fan needs to comment negative s**t on everything a player posts because they didn't like it or are still butt hurt because he used whatever negation tactics to get paid…god forbid the player says anything back 😱

ya'll can't even come to grips with how poorly your team handled the situation all the same. Nah it's just the player

😂 Really!Jerry Rice didn't just play football he mastered it. The man outworked everyone. JERRY RICE literally touched greatness. He's not just the greatest wide receiver we're talking the GOAT of the entire sport.
So when it comes to Aiyuk Man, I hope he rises. I hope he proves he was worth every penny for the sake of my Niners, But let's be real this league has seen too many flashes fade. Not sure how Jerry Rice got GOAT in with Aiyuk tantrum, but it not even close to comparing to Rice. It's more in the line of I'm hoping he doesn't go over the Antonio Bryant route.

He got paid as the man, so it's time to be the man. Unfortunately, I don't think he's going to live up to the contract as he'll be extremely disappointing this year as he bounces back from the injury. That'll be 2 disappointing seasons since he got paid. Truthfully, I'd be shocked if BA is a Niner past this season.

Because he was injured and had a crap year after the holdout. We all know that.

I think it's possible he's gone, but it's also possible he makes it another year.

At the end of his career, he was asked who was his favorite quarterback. He's caught more touchdowns from Steve Young than Joe Montana, but nope, it was still Montana.

I do remember Jerry teasing retirement immediately after a SB win, while obviously he never quit until he wasn't allowed off the bench many years later.

Someone needs to refresh my memory how he resented Montana's fame and felt insufficiently recognized.

Rice absolutely has diva qualities, who cares anyway? s**t so did Montana..along with some animosity towards this franchise. Who cares?

players are allowed to have feelings lol. They're allowed to have some diva qualities…so long as they're good teammates and play good football.

I think its fine to voice your concerns within but to make it public especially during a holdout is unprofessional. I don't recall Rice or Montana doing that I'd like to see evidence. Comparing them to TO and "if" they had instagram they'd be as dramatic is bs. TO didn't have instagram. BA needs to shut up and prove us wrong

Jerry made several issues public in different ways. I remember him being snippy with fans as a rookie. The only one I could find online was this one https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/sports/1989/09/01/49ers-rice-super-bowl-star-still-awaits-his-day-in-the-sun/55e523cf-b7e7-4b9a-8306-8aa143fa6afe/

God, it's a little depressing seeing dates for events I was there for being 40 years ago. WWII to Jerry Rice being a 49er is the same distance away as Jerry in Red and Gold to now. Ugh.

Reiterating it doesn't make it so. And excusing diva behavior by saying other people did it too, without examples, and even if it was true, that does not excuse it. You can bargain hard without burning goodwill bridges by demanding a trade and making it clear you don't want your future to be here. Brock did, Bosa did, Kittle did, Jerry did, Ronnie did, Roger did, Dwight did, Joe did, Steve did, many do, and those that don't have greatly reduced odds of long careers with that team. If that's what you want, you've got a right. IMO, it's stupid for the team to pay more than market value and lock themselves into guaranteed money for years to come for that player. You can say it was the right decision at the time, and I will disagree, but there is no way you can say we're likely to get our money's worth now, so in hindsight, we goofed.

Were you an adult 49ers fan for those Joe and Jerry years or are you looking back from here. So much of the little meaningless stuff that happened back then is just not on the internet. Joe and Jerry were both very emotional. They loved being 49ers but that didn't keep them from complaining. The whole Joe vs Steve thing included a bunch of temper tantrums and snarky comments in the press. I posted above an example of Jerry complaining to the media. Jerry was pretty hurt by TO's huge game in what was supposed to be a game celebrating Jerry, but that was the far more polished veteran Jerry.

I see the crazy stuff on social media but I also hear how he's acting like a coach in the WR room while rehabbing. I don't know what to think.

I believe if Aiyuk didn't want to stay here then he wouldn't have agreed to the deal or veto'd a deal to Cleveland or New England. I don't really see what happened that would make him so upset now. He got his $. He didn't get injured cuz the team or Brock hung him out to dry. Fluke injury.

He's too talented IMO to give up on. I'm hoping all his frustrations are focused on rehabbing and getting back to his normal self. Then show teams and fans what you can do and make that contract feel like a steal.

That would be nice. My only take on this whole thing is that football players whining in public doesn't mean the team or their teammates don't want them around. It only matters when it matters and we are not there yet.

I think the injury is going to be a problem all year, and if he keeps reacting like this he may have to leave because the recovery takes time. Klay Thompson left not because the team or his teammates didn't want him anymore, but because he wanted to get away from these fans.

We are talking about early Jerry ... before he was the legend he is now.

Well, he had 1,500+ yards and 15 touchdowns in year two, both of which exceeded his career averages. Pretty quick ramp up.

Maybe we all have different opinions on what makes a diva. Jerry was pure class on the field. When he scored a TD, he didn't celebrate, he politely handed the ball to the ref. Juxtapose that with TO's celebrations.

So half the league is unprofessional. Quit acting like BA is the only player that's gone that route. Also who gives a crap if they hold out and how they go about trying to get paid? That's none of our business. Those players don't owe us anything. How about our FO stops being notoriously shrewd and get it done all the same? Why do they get a pass all the time?

You don't have to be a holdout player to have diva qualities or hold some animosity towards the franchise (which Joe did).

How about fans need to shut up and stop being hypocritical emotional babies…So long as he's a good teammate and produces on the field who cares? I don't need PR robots like Russell Wilson.

Based off what? Him making a couple posts because fans are being little b***hes? You can't cry about someone being entitled an emotional when that's exactly what you're doing

Holy. You have some really mess up opinions.

Buddy, you've come off as emotional and entitled over BA for over a year…most of it has nothing to do with him on the field.

Nice to to meet you BA.

Me too. I'd be the best teammate and advocate for the organization. I'd send encrypted positive message for the coaches and organization while serving them food and bringing them water while sidelined.

Yup be a good little soldier…bend the knee for all the troll fan posters and kiss the FO ring…especially after you trash your knee.
Instead your BA without money.
