One thing to regret spending all that cash and seeing a 6-11 S show of a season for it. It's another thing to pretend you don't have money to pay players and push good talent out the door.

Saints have been making moves with the least cap space in the league for years. You can make moves and considering the SB is going to be at Levis this season it would be a wise investment for Jed to ensure we can field a team that can make a run.

Right now all I see is the team negotiating with Brock in the media. Trading Aiyuk would be a terrible move because you're never going to get proper value for him. Making moves like this hurts the team.

I get moving off old bloated contracts and not signing dudes like Hardgrave to massive deals when they're not in their prime anymore.

acting like they're broke is complete nonsense. Jed is buying up professional soccer teams lol

A few posters have been saying that the Yorks aren't happy about all these big contracts. Looks like they may be on to something

Or its just a reference to the 49ers long term cap outlook and trying to maintain flexibility even after giving Purdy a new deal.

Jeebus, everyone losing their minds in here…

Does anyone remember back in the Harbaugh era when he stated "Hell, anyone's tradable. If I got offered 2 1st round picks for Staley I'd probably trade him too"?

It's the business, you always listen to offers, doesn't mean you have to take it. I mean, if someone came up and offered a 1st and a 3rd for Aiyuk I wouldn't be mad if the Niners took it and rebuilt more in the draft. Then could sign Davante Adams as a piece to fill in next 2-3 years so we don't fall off too badly.

Or, we keep Aiyuk as a key team player, work with him to help heal up, and sign Adams for 1-2 years to help ease Aiyuk's return. Either way, the team stays fluid to the situation around them to keep staying relevant and in the hunt.

At this point, even Purdy may be available of offered the right package, though probably 2 1st and a player at minimum would require, and for pick number 262 that'd be a killer return, but doesn't mean the team would.

Always keep the phone on in case the crazy deal comes along (just ask Dallas with the Hershel Walker trade, or the Lakers with the Luka trade)
Lets see.. we have 39m roll over to add to this years cap increase. We add 30m in cap space next year with the deebo trade and we also relieve ourselves from past dead cap space from other players

Trading BA would hit the books for only 18m in 2025 of a 4 yr 120m deal. No money owed or dead cap after 2025

with the BA trade or without, finances are not an issue

Raiders TE2 and a 5th for Aiyuk.

Do it.

Raiders won't trade with the 9ers.

  1. $50.1M was the remaining cap space in 2024 that could (and should) be rolled over.
  2. The Deebo trade ultimately saved the team the 200k workout bonus, 750k in active game roster bonuses, 1.17M P5 Salary for 2025, and the 15.431M option bonus from being paid out. None of that money was guaranteed anyway. To get the future savings, they have to eat the 20M in dead cap across future years a year earlier.
  3. Trading BA would only hit for 18.4M if he's traded before his 22.855M option bonus is paid out. Once the 49ers pay him his 2025 option, the dead money on a trade goes from 18M to 41M.

correct but the 50m turns to 39 rollover with deebos trade cap hit included

as for BA, we will know soon if we keep him or not

Call me crazy but I'm not dealing Aiyuk for less than a 3rd. I wouldn't mind Mayer but he's being severely overvalued imo.

Aiyuk's upside is still much greater than Deebo's. Guys come back from injuries all the time. Guys get signed off injuries all the time.

I get that maybe the team was thrown a major curve ball with the injury and now you don't know if Aiyuk will be the guy you need him to be until 2026 and then you're dealing with likely another contract situation with him but man I hate losing a guy of his talent level and heading into a weak WR class draft.

Feels like if we move him our 2nd round pick needs to be a WR and that hurts our ability to add to the trenches.

You're not crazy and no I'm not taking a TE2 with limited upside and a day 3 pick for BA. That's so dumb and ridiculous.

I highly doubt they move a player they just signed for nothing.

You were all for the bloated contracts.

A 3rd and TE 2.
I know it's rumors right now but shouldn't we getting better instead of worse? How does losing Aiyuk help?
