Lenoir is going to be tough to extend. After all these high priced contracts. We don't have any money left.
Right. :( And that is the guy that's probably outplayed his current contract the most!
They can absolutely resign Lenior
Lenoir is absolutely gonna be testing the FA market and be gone
They aren't going to be able to sign Purdy, Lenoir, Hufanga, Greenlaw and keep Javon Hargrave. Some or several of those will be gone.
I think that's why they front loaded this contract. That lowers the amount he'll be getting the rest of the way assuming they don't trade him.
Perhaps that's the case. I actually think losing Hufanga is ok now. We have 2 young safety's who fly all around and make plays all over the field. They are actually ball instinctive too like Hufanga. I don't see a big drop off if he is gone. Hargrave is not worth his contract so he can be gone. Greenlaw I love but he's coming off a major injury. Some are never the same. I hope the TCU kid is great and can replace him.
Of those you want Purdy and Lenoir. If they can sign those and let the others go I think we are fine.

Exactly. Not that they will, but Frontloading Trent Williams contract, they can cut him now and not have any dead money on the books. I.e. they could *hypothetically* tear up Brock's contract (they legally can't BTW) and pay Brock now and still manage to be under the cap.

The other thing about these contract deals that we shouldn't forget... they're always going up.
Every year, you expect the market to get reset.
"Top 5/Top 10 money" is going to change very quickly next year.
But since CeeDee Lamb and Amon-Ra St. Brown both signed this year, we have comparables.
Question for the board: Do you think Aiyuk is worth $30M annually, same as St. Brown?
Does it sound about right that he is being paid $5M less, annually, than CeeDee Lamb?

To be honest though, that one was from Schefter.
Our organization under John Lynch doesn't leak. The Trey Lance draft pick is a clear indicator of that, because no one had any idea who we were picking.
Who knows what contract negotiations were really like... we talk about it, but admittedly, we do have to take the reports with a grain of salt.
Our organization 100 percent leaks to their benefit. It's naive to believe otherwise.
This was fed to Schefter by a team who wants people to know they didn't cave and weren't bullied by a player. No one else has any incentive to say this.

Then Dee_VAH and Aiyuk will hold out again. Just like TW.

A lot of sad Steeler fans, and Steeler fans who are lying to themselves saying they never wanted Aiyuk anyway.

Now every half-decent talented player on the roster is going to pull this s**t, because they know it will work now. Good job, John!! Gonna start calling him John FLINCH. He's probably going back to broadcasting next year, and doesn't care about the shape he leaves the team in.
.
lol, half decent? Aiyuk was an all pro and was #1 in several categories.
We paid him what he was worth but his value inflated because of others resetting the market. At first it sounded like we took too long.. Now it seems more like Aiyuk purposely waited. IDK if I buy that he would've taken less earlier.
