I get that Aiyuk just wants to get paid. However, after putting us through negotiating with 3 different teams, he's selected one that will only pay us next year in the form of draft picks, while they want Aiyuk this year. That being the case, what I don't understand is why can't we require he plays out his contract with us first? Then he can go, and we can get those same draft picks in the year we lose him.

Jed? Save us.

Personally I'm surprised he's still in negotiations. We're lucky that Brock is being paid peanuts this year. Next year when Brock gets paid, I forsee us losing a lot top flight talent. Superbowl or no Superbowl. We should have lost a ton of talent this year but so far, they were able to keep the core together for one more run.

I hope he doesn't use this holdout as an excuse for mediocre play at the start of the season.

It won't be an excuse it will be reality. You should expect him and Trent to be rusty. See Bosa from last year. He wasn't in shape and wasn't ready. And he didn't play well early on.

like I said, I wouldn't play YUCK the 1st 3 games.. he's just gonna start acting HURT the minute he can't keep up w/the opposing Ds..

Can't believe people still care. Honestly I could give f**k, holding out for whatever it is when the 9ers pretty much did everything he's asked. He's acting as if the 9ers said no to a contract extension. Watch this fool get hurt in the first game and put on IR because he's not in football shape. Honestly I rather see if traded now so we won't have to see that possibly happen.

This is exactly why I disagree with coaches not playing starters in pre season. All it does is keep them from getting in game shape so the chance of injury is greater once they start playing for real.

Let him play but lightly the first 2 games - home for Jets, away for Vikings,,,,not really needed to be at his best. But 3rd is at Rams....
With all these players holding out and free agents looking for big contracts, I have to wonder how many of the personnel decisions made by professional teams are based on salaries rather than player abilities or actual needs. It's certainly much bigger factor than it was several years ago. In the NFL with the salary cap it's often the only reason that players are released. It's a shame teams can't build their rosters based on ability and needs without worrying about how much thye make.
No more negotiating, play on 5th yr. option. Get to practice or start facing daily fines. That's what I would tell him at this point.

I think it'll be slightly different for BA cause his position isn't as physical as Bosa's. His body wasn't prepped for the physically.

I do expect him to be a little rusty but hopefully not too much. Hoping the chemistry doesn't take long to regain. At least he's been in meetings etc.

Glad to see you've caught on. Some of us have been saying this for weeks. BA played this team for a fool. Watch what happens now when he has a guaranteed contract in his back pocket. Self serving players go beyond just money.
