Part of me wants the Niners to shore up Trent, resign Mooney and Lenoir with that money. Let BA suit up his 6 required games but don't let him on the field. Then come next year, franchise him LOL. Ok ok this is not rationale thinking but my god, BA is pissing me off..

We need him and Trent back.

why don't they just say ok going forward, we negotiate from March whenever to start of TC. once TC starts, the negotiating window is closed.

You can say that all you want. It's not going to stop the player from holding out

I'm sure some of the dudes here were spinning that as a good trade back then.

Because nobody will buy it. Just like the Niners don't buy Aiyuk will hold out.

the only real deadline this negotiation ever had was week 1. Everything else was made up.
Schultz reports have always seemed like it's coming from 49ers side, I highly doubt they would reference ownership and then not get the deal done, seems like that would have everyone ripping on Jed

Yes, he can, lose money when the whole point in all of this for him is more money, and then get tagged next year and we do this song and dance again. Great "leverage"

I mean that's the only leverage they have. He's got all the right in the world to do it. Not super smart because he will never recoup that missed cash, but I'm not gonna hate on a player trying to get whatever he can…even if it is annoying.

I'll root for him the moment he steps on the field and catches TDs.

This isn't about a money difference at all. It is very uncommon for the last year of a contract to be guaranteed, Deebo's is not, and there is talk of being able to trade him next year to afford BA. BA doesn't want that. We don't want to give it to him because we don't want to set the precedent. We want the flexibility to move on if better value is available then and to get a return greater than a 3rd a year away.

Now the talking heads are saying since BA can't be ready on another team by the start of the season, the trade value must be adjusted down.

Come on. We don't need no stink'n signature. BA is under contract on the deal he signed as a rookie. We should be done negotiating. Sign it or don't, and if it's don't, he's under contract at $14.1m. Play or don't. If it's don't, he Will be back at crunch time and the playoffs, lest he's in a time warp. You can't force anybody to do anything. You can just make it real stupid to do nothing, and if we quit talking about trading him and continuing to negotiate with him, we've done that.

In order to accrue a season, BA needs to be back for 6 regular season games. That means, he can sit out 11 games, not six as continuously gets mentioned in this thread.

If he continues to hold out in season games, he loses game checks of 1/18th of $14.1m, or $783k+. Those game checks are gone. If he only plays 6 games for us, he only costs us $4.7m, we have him at crunch time, and he's available for the playoffs. If he doesn't even do that, we have him next year on the 5th year at the same $14.1m

If we want to trade him for a 2 and 3 we must wait until next year to use, why wouldn't we just wait until next year and play him this year, hopefully get a ring, and then do that next year on tag and trade when he might well be worth more, and we don't go a year without both him and the picks. Things can change in a year, especially a successful one. Maybe even Pearsall and/or Cowing or somebody else become better options for us for the price.
He's going to constantly be a problem, especially after he's paid. Starting to really lean on the trade side and never thought I'd say that, especially when we can use that money elsewhere and retain some of our top talent.

That's like telling a toddler the jar of cookies on the counter are not available between 5-8pm and to stop sh**ting themselves. It's just words. That toddler is going to climb on counter and sh*t in the cookie jar at 7pm. Then he'll pit you and your wife against each other until you slip and tell her she reminds you of her deceased mother and that we should have gotten more than her sisters in the Will. She then threatens to leave you and take half, leaving you with barely any expendable income living with your weird co-worker who offered a room in his two bedroom apartment on the rough side of town. You agree because you are in a jam and need some place to stay for a few months but then your boss fires you because you have performance issues at work because of the divorce. You either take to the bottle or .22 Calibur you hid under your coworkers stained mattress he so kindly let you use.

Pretty much what Aiyuk has done to the organization

There's no reason to assume that.

It wasn't a good trade. But TO left us no option. The guy became toxic to the team….we were going to lose him one way or another.

Let's see if he's going to be a problem. Trade him next year after we take the cheap 5th year. Can't use those draft picks until next year anyway.
Sign him…win the SB this year then trade him next year since he's a huge pain in the butt. Use that money and extend other guys next year. Sounds easy right lol

Agree wholeheartedly. Stop caving in to this guy's demands. He's become a nuisance this offseason. If the team doesn't want to trade him bc of poor returns, then sit pat on his current 14m salary and let him rot on the sideline all season.
