Purdy is going to get a phat check, definitely does not have to nor should he be expected to take the team friendly approach. I do expect zero drama though.

Im sure he will try to go for a max payout but won't miss training camp or games because he is not getting everything he is asking for. I think he will be reasonable and will want to make sure he is in camp and ready to go.

Whoever Brock Purdy's agent, he's about to win the lottery!!!

He is a hard dude to get a read on. He seems extremely happy and content with his life today...right now....in his current financial situation...and he does not seem motivated by wealth, or status, or what anyone thinks of him.

I know people like that, I have been like that at different points in my life....but I do not think most situations correlate. I have taken lower paying jobs to maximize culture fit, I have lawyer and doctor friends that have done pro-bono work because they believe in the cause....so that exists....but I just do not think it is the same. Guys like Purdy are not deciding between do I get 2 or 3 lambos....they are more along the lines of Do I want to make sure my grandkids and great grandkids get an opportunity to do anything they want in life or....do I want to save this billionaire owner 10s of million in guaranteed money.

maybe the discount happens some day...but I doubt it is in the 2nd NFL contract, I am sure Purdy even if he does not personally desire extreme wealth...could do some soul searching and find many causes he believes in that he could help fund.He might be more motivated by what that money can bring to people of his choosing them what the money could bring to himself.

I kinda think it pushes this conversation even further into the non-discount second contract....but who knows...

Purdy is a Christian, like the real deal so far as I can tell. We have examples of people like Derek Carr and Kirk Cousins. They do try to maximize the money they make and give so I think you may be on to something. Brock is also conscious of those around him and trying to keep the team successful so there's a chance he has some conversations with Kyle and John about structuring the deal so his team can be successful. I think you bring up a good point though.

totally agree, nobody will be fu*king around here, the 49ers will pay him top money pretty quickly, I think, and there will be zero drama.

Wrong thread for this, but I suspect his number won't be as high as some anticipate. The difference between 150m and 200m is not really something you'll feel. That's wealth that likely goes beyond most people's spending habits....even those who desire to live extravagantly. I'd bet on him pulling a Brady and telling the team that he wants the difference put into bringing in the best players.

It's about the union. Hard for other players to negotiate for a big contract when a star sets the ceiling low enough for Frodo. I don't think this will be an issue with Purdy cause I don't think he will reset the market.

I have heard this before cause then teams starts wanting their guys to do it and all that. Players want other plays to always push for the most they can get so they can get more etc. I understand it but I also don't think players should get mad at players for doing what they think is best for them.

mind ya business, other players/unions. Lol

Lol imagine this happens with Brock next year and he misses camp and all that. Would be awful.

I think it's going to be real simple. The team will offer him at least $1 more than the highest paid player in the league (for a nano second, early in the off season), and Brock will pretty much let the team write a team friendly contract because he wants talent around him. I anticipate no drama. It will be more than $60m apy.

Purdy won't take a team friendly amount. But he will take a team friendly structure.

Just what I said. I don't think we'll offer him a team friendly amount. He's earned that respect.
