I guess us having one of the toughest 2nd half schedules doesn't count. On top of the fact that the Vikings and Packers > Texans and Titans.

This is too good.

"A soft NFC" LMAOOOOO
that might be the most ignorant, off the mark, horrible statement every. The AFC was garbage this year. The pats were a shell of themselves, Miami was almost a meme all year long, the Bengals are getting the #1 pick, Lamar and the Ravens went full potato, TENN was completely one dimensional, Watson was sacked more than the opening filmakers of Monty Python and the Holy Grail, the Bills were just not a well rounded team and their QB is in the bottom 1/3 of the league, Browns were a joke, Broncos were sadly underwhelming, the Raiders were bad and yet were still in the mix, Steelers couldn't keep QB's from getting hit with helmets, the Jets were LOL bad.
The NFC, the packers, Saints, Seahawks, Vikings, even Rams, Bucs, Cowboys, Eagles were all better than the majority of the AFC.

I'm following you on twitter.

Man what a bunch of idiots lol.

I really hope they read stuff in this forum as well.

There's so many hilarious things in there. They obviously don't have a sus or CC to keep them grounded, just tons of homers.
"Most complete team, got them playing at a high level, front 7, Richard Sherman, George Kittle. Heard it before. Still not enough. Gonna be tough to beat us because eventually we will find a way to beat them and the way playoff games are nowdays with the huge timeouts and commercials, our defense won't be taxed at all playing in 50-60 degree weather. Expect a total blowout."

"Kyle will do everything to keep from having to put the game on Jimmy G's back to win. Kyle hopes he can Trent Dilfer/Mark Rypien his way through to a SB win with his defense for sure."

These guys obviously didn't watch the last 5 games of the season. They've just watched the 2 playoff games, LOL. Well, RIP them.

The confidence they have is great but they also fail to mention that they play in one of the weakest divisions in football. Of course your offense is going to be explosive when you play the raiders, broncos and chargers 6 times a year in total. Especially when Rivers did his best job to gift turnovers to opposing teams all year.

Don't forget their two playoff opponents were 10-6 and 9-7. Not exactly world beaters to get to the super bowl.

I think we're already pretty physical. We have a dominant D line and we've been ramming the ball down the other teams throat on offense.

Yeah, but we won't have Kap or Crabtree to f-ck up at the goal line with the game on the line so we should be good.

For the old guys that remember the SB vs the Dolphins. Fan marino came in with the list explosive passing offense the league had ever seen and wouldn't see again for almost 30 years, they were unstoppable.

After Danny boy went 10/11, the pass rush started to get home and we rolled them 38-17. That's how I see this game going. We only have to stop mahomes from scoring on 3 drives total. If we do that, I believe our offense is efficient enough against them that we take home the Lombardi.
I do not fear them.

My brother and I were lucky enough to be at the game at Stanford stadium, where you literally are right on the field. At that time there was no track and field rimming the field. We sat amongst al Miami fans and they were really knowledgeable football fans. They applauded good plays even if by the 9ers.

Marino was good, but he was no Mahomes. This guy is incredible, able to throw no look passes across his body that just blow your mind. Also he is pinpoint accurate. Unfortunately, watching some recent games film, he is as dangerous running as he is passing. Titans really played his running TD miserably , however.

Mahomes to me just seems to be a qB like we have never seen before. Entire question is whether our DLine rush can even out the mahomes factor. We have the best front 7 in the league but Mahommes is just something special.

GMFB's Peter Schrager, who has been a 49er believer all yr, just kind of shakes his head when he talks about mahomes and his passing/running. In the end , can our D keep mahomes from being the MVP with his arm. Also, can we match them in a shootout? Jimmy G has done that in N.O, and that was no picnic, yet we won. Still, i think mahomes is a way bigger problem than Brees and Sean Payton. Also Andy Reid is one of the few really brite lites in O football. He is constantly changing things up, just like kyle.

Normally kyle is a huge advantage over opponents HC. In N.O, it was even. Against Reid....HCs are equal. Teamwise we have the advantage when you go thru each position, except at QB. And there, definitely KC has the edge. No flies on JG, but mahomes...is just hard to match. He has Tyrek Hill and Kielce among others but overall i like our talent better.

So can a magician QB from KC outshine a SF team that has overall better talent? The DL passrush either wins it for us, or it's going to be a long day. JimmyG could get in a shoot out with mahomes, but there, they have the advantage. KC has only had one game this yr where they scored less than 30 (or maybe it is 32 ) pts. Kinda like our average.

Only bet i'd Consider would be the over at 54. Got a feeling it is going to be reached relatively early.

I guess my only thing is that he needs that as his steady diet. If you can limit his running and make him throw from the pocket, he's nothing extraordinary, in terms of head and shoulders above any other QB. Not saying that's easy, at all, but the plan, first and foremost, has to be contain.
I can see why he was passed over by a few teams, in terms of, he has to see it throw it. He's not a big time anticipation thrower. But, IF he see's it he's gonna throw a dart on a rope.
He's like a better throwing version of Kaepernick. He's a smart guy, understands coverages, has a real knack for maneuvering in the pocket, big time arm, struggles in a rhythm offense if the first read isn't there, relies heavily on the roll out and making a play.
What's not talked about is how many yards after catch his guys get. If you make him take what's underneath and methodically drive down the field, they're not going to beat you.

I like how our defense matches up. Think about when Seattle lost to NE in the SB. We're running a very similar scheme and NE was an explosive offensive team that year. But, they weren't in the SB. TB won because he took the 5, 6, 7 yard passes all game long and methodically drove the ball down the field. Mahomes isn't that guy. He's so aggressive he wants the big play every play. As long we keep everything in front of us and those edge guys contain, I feel good. I don't see them putting up more than 20 if that happens. If not, I still don't see them putting up more than 27.
I do not fear them.

Great response and also your much later one to do a contain on mahomes, No question he has a lot of Russ Wilson in him when it comes to bailing out if first read is gone. Whereas he isn't terribly fast, he is really quick. One thing that is a huge difference is his ability to see wider than 180 degrees. Some call this "He has eyes in the back of his head." I once saw the great Bob Cousy, best pure passer in basketball about a million yrs ago...walk into a room and he could see at least 30 degrees past the 180 degree mark on each side.

I got no explanation for that other than Mahomes has "it " also. But i like your idea of contain, something Nicky B will have to control because sometimes he makes a beeline instead of containing. Once established, then he can go for the sack/hit/ hurry. The real question for me is just how good is our DL? To me i have never seen one better, with Dee healthy. And he is as of now. Question is , is THAT fast enough? If we literally hit and pound mahomes all day, he may start playing a little less well...we'll see on that one. I HOPE we get to him...but that is my one BIG question. Can we?

If they get up on us, then it will be interesting to see how JG plays. We've already seen him in N.O, so we KNOW he can do it. But kyle hasn't given Andy Reid anything to think about except our Run O. We know JG can do it. They may not, tho surely they have seen all our film . What a fascinating matchup, and i got no idea how this plays out. If we contain, and if we pound on mahomes, we win. Otherwise, IDK. Pick 'Em.

I don't think anyone is discrediting Mahomes. My perspective is that his strengths are better than any QB in the league who also possess those strengths. He is the top of the top. But he does have weaknesses and one of those are that he is not going to pick a defense apart like a surgeon. The challenge for our defense will be

1. for our DL to not let him escape while still getting the pressure and the sacks,
2. the LBs will be to play fast but not over commit,
3. the secondary will be to stay in your responsibility and do not get beat deep.

Fortunately, all three of these things are the strength of our defense.

This game reminds me a lot about the Broncos-Packers superbowl in 1998.
I think I will love this.
NFL will do everything possible to get Mahomes and Andy Reid the Superbowl Trophy. Just watch for those timely penalties to either stop a 49er drive or extend a Chiefs drive. The Titans got that phantom holding penalty on 3rd and 1 in a 21 to 17 game in the 4th quarter.
Beat the refs, beat the Chiefs. Win the SB.

Remember at the beginning of the year they had score twice to get one ...

The hits keep coming,
"49ers are a young team surging on pure talent. But they don't have the heart that we do. They don't have the want to.

Reminds me of the Broncos/Panthers Super Bowl as much as I hate it.

Panthers had an easy time getting to the SB but the Broncos were determined. They wanted it more."

These guys are full on ham in there. It's awesomely, hilarious.

Last week: "Rodgers will win because he's hungry".
The hell does that even mean? As if the team that wants it more will always win. There's also talent, coaching, and execution that play much bigger roles in the outcome of a game than hunger.
The game against the Saints is definitely the biggest counter to the "just a game manager" tag for Garoppolo. It's the one that really stands out.

But like I was saying, we've got 40 years of history watching game managers and seeing them occasionally have that one shining moment. All those things you just said in his defense? They're things Chiefs fans have been saying prior to Mahomes about every guy except Montana and Green.

Thus, they ring hollow/false. I know the 49ers played that Baltimore game in bad passing conditions, but they win that game with a few more plays in the passing game from Garoppolo.

The other game you cited was a home win against a non-playoff team quarterbacked by Mason Rudolph, in which Garoppolo never trailed by more than one score, threw for a pedestrian yardage total, and threw two picks that led to 6 points for the opposing team.

You understand why that doesn't make the case for being more than a guy who leans on his D and run game, right?https://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=328296&page=83
Wow I'll usually take a quick look at who were playings fan message board. The Chiefs board is by far the least knowledgeable about football. It's like they've just been introduced to the sport, let alone watched the Niners play.

Anyone scared of the Chiefs offense - go watch the 2nd half of their game against NE. In the first half, NE's contain was AWFUL, after that, BB cleaned it up and they had good contain on Mahomes to keep him in the pocket. He still made a few plays but they only scored 3 points in the 2nd half. I watched him miss seeing 10 or 11 open guys down field when he was kept in the pocket and forced to go through his progressions. He's human.

The only reason the Pats lost is because they had NO ONE to throw the football to and their O-line was trash. I almost felt bad for brady, if I didn't hate him, but Spags came with so many cover-0 blitzes because he didn't fear anyone catching the ball for NE. We've beat the cover-0 all year long. Teams have stopped trying it because we beat every single time.

This might be my favorite post of the year. Thanks jonnydel.

More than likely the staff will pay attention to this tape.
