To quote Keena Turner from America's Game 1984, once a QB gets hit enough I don't care who he is, he becomes ordinary.
I wouldn't compare a statue to one of the most dynamic QB's in the NFL who also happens to be cerebral. Mahomes is no joke.
Mahomes is better than Dan Marino now?
No he's not. My point is that they are dangerous in very different ways. Marino was elusive within the pocket. Mahomes is in his element outside the pocket when the play starts to breakdown.
I didn't see your comment until now, yours is reasonable and I agree. The one I replied to is implying that Mahomes is superior to Marino which is a joke. Mahomes will literally have to have the game of his life to beat this defense. Even then our offense can still outscore them. I just don't see how we lose this game, aside from being -2 or worse in the turnover battle.
Wow. The implication wasn't that Mahomes is superior. It was that Mahomes is not Marino in that he is mobile and is successful using a different style. So the comparison of playing a game vs Marino is not the same as playing a game vs Mahomes in terms of defensive strategy.
You implied NONE of that with your comment. You responded to someone saying that we're facing another QB who everyone is saying is "unstoppable." This narrative has been pushed many times in history, and great defenses have found ways to win. We will too.
Just wow.

Game 1: 24-17
Mahomes: 19-32, 182 YDS, 1 TD, 1 INT
Mahomes: 5 CAR, 59 YDS
Game 2: 31-21
Mahomes: 16-25, 174 YDS, 1 TD, 1 INT
Williams: 12 CAR, 124 YDS, 2 TD
Mahomes 7 CAR, 21 YDS
Wasn't hill hurt for both those games?

I guess us having one of the toughest 2nd half schedules doesn't count. On top of the fact that the Vikings and Packers > Texans and Titans.
This is too good.

Man what a bunch of idiots lol.
I really hope they read stuff in this forum as well.
There's so many hilarious things in there. They obviously don't have a sus or CC to keep them grounded, just tons of homers.
"Most complete team, got them playing at a high level, front 7, Richard Sherman, George Kittle. Heard it before. Still not enough. Gonna be tough to beat us because eventually we will find a way to beat them and the way playoff games are nowdays with the huge timeouts and commercials, our defense won't be taxed at all playing in 50-60 degree weather. Expect a total blowout."
"Kyle will do everything to keep from having to put the game on Jimmy G's back to win. Kyle hopes he can Trent Dilfer/Mark Rypien his way through to a SB win with his defense for sure."
These guys obviously didn't watch the last 5 games of the season. They've just watched the 2 playoff games, LOL. Well, RIP them.

Originally posted by jonnydel:For the old guys that remember the SB vs the Dolphins. Fan marino came in with the list explosive passing offense the league had ever seen and wouldn't see again for almost 30 years, they were unstoppable.
After Danny boy went 10/11, the pass rush started to get home and we rolled them 38-17. That's how I see this game going. We only have to stop mahomes from scoring on 3 drives total. If we do that, I believe our offense is efficient enough against them that we take home the Lombardi.
I do not fear them.
My brother and I were lucky enough to be at the game at Stanford stadium, where you literally are right on the field. At that time there was no track and field rimming the field. We sat amongst al Miami fans and they were really knowledgeable football fans. They applauded good plays even if by the 9ers.
Marino was good, but he was no Mahomes. This guy is incredible, able to throw no look passes across his body that just blow your mind. Also he is pinpoint accurate. Unfortunately, watching some recent games film, he is as dangerous running as he is passing. Titans really played his running TD miserably , however.
Mahomes to me just seems to be a qB like we have never seen before. Entire question is whether our DLine rush can even out the mahomes factor. We have the best front 7 in the league but Mahommes is just something special.
GMFB's Peter Schrager, who has been a 49er believer all yr, just kind of shakes his head when he talks about mahomes and his passing/running. In the end , can our D keep mahomes from being the MVP with his arm. Also, can we match them in a shootout? Jimmy G has done that in N.O, and that was no picnic, yet we won. Still, i think mahomes is a way bigger problem than Brees and Sean Payton. Also Andy Reid is one of the few really brite lites in O football. He is constantly changing things up, just like kyle.
Normally kyle is a huge advantage over opponents HC. In N.O, it was even. Against Reid....HCs are equal. Teamwise we have the advantage when you go thru each position, except at QB. And there, definitely KC has the edge. No flies on JG, but mahomes...is just hard to match. He has Tyrek Hill and Kielce among others but overall i like our talent better.
So can a magician QB from KC outshine a SF team that has overall better talent? The DL passrush either wins it for us, or it's going to be a long day. JimmyG could get in a shoot out with mahomes, but there, they have the advantage. KC has only had one game this yr where they scored less than 30 (or maybe it is 32 ) pts. Kinda like our average.
Only bet i'd Consider would be the over at 54. Got a feeling it is going to be reached relatively early.
I guess my only thing is that he needs that as his steady diet. If you can limit his running and make him throw from the pocket, he's nothing extraordinary, in terms of head and shoulders above any other QB. Not saying that's easy, at all, but the plan, first and foremost, has to be contain.
I can see why he was passed over by a few teams, in terms of, he has to see it throw it. He's not a big time anticipation thrower. But, IF he see's it he's gonna throw a dart on a rope.
He's like a better throwing version of Kaepernick. He's a smart guy, understands coverages, has a real knack for maneuvering in the pocket, big time arm, struggles in a rhythm offense if the first read isn't there, relies heavily on the roll out and making a play.
What's not talked about is how many yards after catch his guys get. If you make him take what's underneath and methodically drive down the field, they're not going to beat you.
I like how our defense matches up. Think about when Seattle lost to NE in the SB. We're running a very similar scheme and NE was an explosive offensive team that year. But, they weren't in the SB. TB won because he took the 5, 6, 7 yard passes all game long and methodically drove the ball down the field. Mahomes isn't that guy. He's so aggressive he wants the big play every play. As long we keep everything in front of us and those edge guys contain, I feel good. I don't see them putting up more than 20 if that happens. If not, I still don't see them putting up more than 27.
I do not fear them.

KC fans think they can just walk through this game and win.
They are going to get a rude awakening like the Ravens fans did when we played them at their house and almost beat them, and the Saints fans when we showed them what Jimmy was capable of.
Originally posted by xfactor67:The confidence they have is great but they also fail to mention that they play in one of the weakest divisions in football. Of course your offense is going to be explosive when you play the raiders, broncos and chargers 6 times a year in total. Especially when Rivers did his best job to gift turnovers to opposing teams all year.
