Because Kyle Shanahan with time to prepare vs Andy Reid.

I go over to Seahawks.net and they say "congratulations on being the best in the NFC." "But prepare for a loss."

What do you guys think? Everybody is picking against us. Media, sports media talk shows, message boards, other teams fan forums. I think like 99% of the world I see guarantees us a loss.

I listen to a lot of sports radio and I wouldn't say everybody is picking KC. What I hear is about even with a slight edge to people picking KC. It doesn't make any difference anyway. It's not an election.

LOL. I was real confident at first. And I still like our team and believe we really do have a chance. But all this sports radio, TV sports talk shows, message boards and other teams fan forums has me a little bit shaken I think. Maybe just don't pay attention to it. Haha. It's hard not to notice though how many are utterly convinced of picking against us.

To quote Keena Turner from America's Game 1984, once a QB gets hit enough I don't care who he is, he becomes ordinary.

I remember Marino hardly being touched in the playoff games leading to the '84 super bowl. When Dwaine, Johnson, Fred and Manu kept hitting him and sacking him, he got so pissed at his OLine. It bothered him the entire second half that his OLine wasn't able to keep the 49er pass rush away from him. I think he even yelled at his OLine for sucking, or something like that.

Same with Brady, when Aldon hit him in Foxborough Brady's game kind of changed and we came away with a win in Foxborough. So I agree with Keena, if we can get a good hit on Mahomes, he'll be come ordinary -- just like Aaron was very ordinary in the first half, and then the 49ers D let him off the hook in the second half, he became super man on our defense and scored 20 points.

People like to side with the flashy. The 49ers have been the most consistent team all year and a top offense and defense to boot. Mahomes will make some plays but we've faced better and beat better. We have to beat their QB. They have to beat our team.
Two things will decide the game.

Turnovers
And who scores TDs instead of kicks FG

I wouldn't compare a statue to one of the most dynamic QB's in the NFL who also happens to be cerebral. Mahomes is no joke.

Mahomes is better than Dan Marino now?

No he's not. My point is that they are dangerous in very different ways. Marino was elusive within the pocket. Mahomes is in his element outside the pocket when the play starts to breakdown.

I didn't see your comment until now, yours is reasonable and I agree. The one I replied to is implying that Mahomes is superior to Marino which is a joke. Mahomes will literally have to have the game of his life to beat this defense. Even then our offense can still outscore them. I just don't see how we lose this game, aside from being -2 or worse in the turnover battle.

Wow. The implication wasn't that Mahomes is superior. It was that Mahomes is not Marino in that he is mobile and is successful using a different style. So the comparison of playing a game vs Marino is not the same as playing a game vs Mahomes in terms of defensive strategy.

Anyone scared of the Chiefs offense - go watch the 2nd half of their game against NE. In the first half, NE's contain was AWFUL, after that, BB cleaned it up and they had good contain on Mahomes to keep him in the pocket. He still made a few plays but they only scored 3 points in the 2nd half. I watched him miss seeing 10 or 11 open guys down field when he was kept in the pocket and forced to go through his progressions. He's human.

The only reason the Pats lost is because they had NO ONE to throw the football to and their O-line was trash. I almost felt bad for brady, if I didn't hate him, but Spags came with so many cover-0 blitzes because he didn't fear anyone catching the ball for NE. We've beat the cover-0 all year long. Teams have stopped trying it because we beat every single time.

You just made feel much better about the SB with this post

I concur. Thanks Jonny D

+1. Jonny leading the charge!

This is where I'm at. I think it'll be a tough game. I hope I'm wrong and the 49ers control the game from start to finish.

I would be curious to see the Chiefs vs. Chargers games this year. Both were Chiefs victories but:

Game 1: 24-17
Mahomes: 19-32, 182 YDS, 1 TD, 1 INT
Mahomes: 5 CAR, 59 YDS

Game 2: 31-21
Mahomes: 16-25, 174 YDS, 1 TD, 1 INT
Williams: 12 CAR, 124 YDS, 2 TD
Mahomes 7 CAR, 21 YDS

Curious, but why LAC? They're not like us, other than the Bosa bros...

Like I said, not super fast. 4.55 is fast for most QBs but 4.55 is slow compared to Jackson or Murray. At 4.55 you can be run down by LB's and even D ends. I would be a little surprised if Wilson could run 4.55 now after all these years in the league. He's taken a lot of hits.

I don't know Mahomes speed, but if he's anything like Murray, Jackson or Wilson, this defense has faced these kinds of mobile QBs and I like the fact that they did. for sure. It's prepared them to deal mentally with off scheduled throws and the fact that these mobile QB's will get their yardage either via run or pass. You don't really stop these types of mobile QBs because they can run AND pass and that's why a powerful and explosive offense is key to wining these track meet kinds of games against these kinds of QB's. Key is for the defense to be prepared to defend against the QB scramble drills and do the best they can to maybe anticipate any roll outs or moving pockets with a well timed blitz to that side -- or something like that.

Not only that, it's much easier for the receiver to get open now with the new rules and they don't worry as much about getting laid out after they catch the ball. They still get hit but not like they did back in the 80's. DB's made a living of making you regret you ever wanted to play receiver. Same for QB. Marino took way more hits in a season than Mahomes will get in his career.

LOL why wouldn't you want to understand how they kept Mahomes in check?

You implied NONE of that with your comment. You responded to someone saying that we're facing another QB who everyone is saying is "unstoppable." This narrative has been pushed many times in history, and great defenses have found ways to win. We will too.
From Chiefs planet

"But in all seriousness, the Titans would beat the Niners. This is the easiest team we'll played this postseason."

I didn't know people from the midwest were retarded.
