🏆 SF 49ERS vs KC CHIEFS PREGAME THREAD - SUPER BOWL LIV 🏆

We've seen this Chiefs team make mistakes and fall double digits behind in both playoff games so far. Would really love to see them drop some 3rd down passes and turn the ball over early. Every break matters in the Super Bowl.

We're a much better team now, but what's about to happen in Jimmy Gs accident to leads to us drafting Bosa at #2.

IKR. Warner was a baby lost on coverage. No pass rush with poor coverage . We were relying on the fastest WR in the NFL that can't run routes or catch.

All I know is this, no way Jimmy G will only throw 8 times in this game. In fact, he might need to do a Saints job and he will need to practice hard in the next 2 weeks as I am sure he will be a little rusty after these 2 games.

That is not because it is easy to throw on the them, they do rank 8th in Passing D afterall. But, Mahomes can score quick plus they have a ton of weapons, in fact more than the Saints. I will be interested to see whether our pass rush will be effective against him. Problem is while Mahomes is not a running QB per se, he is still very mobile and often moves out of the pocket. So, I do have my doubts whether the pass rush can get to him.

The question is whether we can run on them? Stats say yes as they only rank 26th in Run D, but if they can stop Henry, will they be able to handle Shanny's system? That remains to be seen.

Either way, I predict we will need to score a ton. I think we will need to score more than 40 in order to win this game. You can't just be stubborn and run the ball 3 times and end up with a 3 and out. You will need to move the chains and score TDs and not FGs. The game plan will need to be extremely aggressive. While it was a good story for the media that the 9ers ran the ball down Vikings and Packers' throats, no that would not be enough if we want to win the Super Bowl.

Mostert hits the hole a lot faster than Henry. Henry just tries to run over you and it's no secret what hole he is going for once he gets going. How much we need to score depends on how much our defense can slow down Mahomes. We can't stop him. But I think we can slow him down more than the Texans or Titans did. Our defense is much better than that.

I don't think our defense can slow them down enough. Why? Mahomes is too mobile, well at least he is more mobile than Drew Brees plus you could argue he has even more weapons than the Saints. Obviously, I don't have a crystal ball, but I still say we will need to score more than 40 if we want to win this game.

They might score less than you think (the Chiefs). This is the best defense Mahomes and the Chiefs have faced all year. Especially the pass defense which is where it needs to be strong. The Texans and Titans are weak compared to us. I wouldn't compare anything they do to us. We are far superior on pass defense than their last two opponents.

Then, why couldn't we stop the Saints? Just because of Dee Ford and Kwon Alexander?

We had injuries in the Saints game and were not at full strength. Especially the edge rushers need 2 for this team to be great. 1 is good. 2 is great and almost unstoppable. It's not so much that it's all Dee Ford as some in the media and on the board like to say. It's having 2 of them coming from the edge instead of 1 of them. It would be the same thing if Dee Ford was in there and Bosa was out injured. It would be exactly the same. Less effective. Much more effective when they are both in there. It opens things up for Armstead and Buckner too because you just can't double everything. You start getting single teams in there and it just all falls apart all over the offensive line.

Ummm cuz Brees is the freaking master of the three step drop and get rid of the ball, nullifying the pass rush and torching a secondary without Tartt.

I don't think Mahomes is a three step drop guy....he seems more like Rodgers and likes to take his sweet time and peruse the field and buy time with his legs to move around and make deep explosive throws.

If he does this he will have no time....key is to stop him from running a la The Hobbit. Mahomes has not seen a pash rush like this in the AFC and might be able to rattle him early into some mistakes before he adjusts.

I think Shanny will come out throwing. Everyone knows the run game we've had the past couple of weeks. KC is gonna load up the box. The pass will open up the run game in this one.

Also had Foster making dumb penalties.

My only wish from rewatching is that we don't have to wear the same uniform combo. We need all whites !

I can see that happening. Bellicheat owes Kyle's father for defending him in deflate gate.

Chiefs forum says Jimmy G has weak knees. They barely hit him. They said we should thank them for taking him out. They were beating us 31 - 10 at one point. They think 2018 49ers = 2019 49ers. It's all the same guys. We didn't get any free agents, impact draft picks, guys back from injury, young guys another year in the system to grow up and continuity. Plus another year in the system for the offense to play together. It's exactly the same team as last year. They are going to blow us out. We are the weakest opponent they have faced. Both the Texans and Titans are tougher. Also the Titans have a better defense than us. We are not really tough and struggle with mobile QB's. It will be over by halftime.

Well at least that part is true. We shall see
Negative, it's not true. We were hurt during that stretch.

Against mobile QB's, and 3 points to Wilson was in OT
Cards: 25
Seattle: 27
Cards 26
Ravens: 20
Seattle: 21

Non-mobile QB's during the same period
Pack:8
Saints:46
Falcons:29
Rams:31

Health was the bigger factor, not mobile QB's

Rodgers was the only PP that had fewer points than the most by mobile qb.

Even if we say ATL was only 23, it's still more, on average, against PP.

I hope we get a lot more pressure on Mahomes than some of these other mobile QB's. I hope we can pull it out. We were injured then.

Great stuff JD and I agree, we'll need pressure against Mahomes. I wouldn't object to a well timed corner blitz if they move the pocket right or left to avoid our pass rush. We might catch them with their pants down and get a turnover if we are lucky.
God seeing Foster get abused is terrible. We are in such better shape. Especially with all of the blitzes we were throwing at this offense at the time.

I'd rather see them drop passes and have turnovers late in the game! Actually, all game long would be even better.

9 penalties for over 100 yards and the constant missed tackles, that d was a joke lmao

We will have him fingerpointing in no time

I think that was a brilliant Kyle coaching move to hide everything and just run the ball after we got control of the game. Now they have to devote a ton of time scheming against the run, and less time on the pass, where- as you said - that's where Kyle will burn them.

If they fall behind, it will be another Marino '84 situation where our pass rush will begin to shut them down in the second half.

Having them fall behind by 14 points will definitely make my day!

Supposedly, the Texans had a great front 4 that was going to pressure Mahomes- they were gassed at the end and ineffective most of the game.

Titans were supposed to be run stuffers and Physical, but Mahomes had up to 9 seconds to throw on some plays and they never touched his jersey.

Big boy Bosa has never done s**t against the Chiefs and I doubt his little queer brother will do much either. https://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=328296&page=78

Wow...

Yeah Houston with their 31 sacks and 29th defense vs the Pass is right there with the 49ers D.
