It's okay to be nervous right? 16 games and it all comes down to Saturday. Ugh it's been so long since we've been in the playoffs I forgot how it feels! I'll probably be a mess within the first five minutes lol
I just watched the lasted installment of brick by brick, I came away thinking Seattle is the second best team in the NFC and we were a missed field goal away from sweeping them. The episode reaffirmed this teams dominance in my mind.
I agree with you, 100%. But to be fair, we came within 1/4" of being swept by SEA. Or, in other words....we are so closely matched you couldn't slip a sheet of paper between us. We come within a missed FG by a kicker we signed off the street, of beating them in game 1. We win by 1/4" (thanks Dre) in game 2. Can two teams be more evenly matched? Really, it is hard to imagine.
The funny thing is the way it worked out, SEA drops to #5 and somehow the Vikes beat the team i thot we might lose to ....N.O. Yet, the Vikes beat them. Thank God.
You recall , certainly all those horrors we sweated thru in yr 1. And walk away with what 6 Ws after the late addition of JimmyG?
Yr 2 , JimmyG is starting to get kyle's Playbook down, and BINGO ......ACL... 4 Ws. Both yrs we ended seasons with 21 guys on IR or PUP. Both yrs. Then this yr massive hurt everywhere, Au jus lost for 5-6 games, Kittle gone 4 games , RBs take turns injured, Pettis...ah, never mind, then Dee and knees , then Hammy. Bosa hammy in PS. We lose DJ Jones and Blair for yr , KWON goes down with pec tear, surgery, and somehow is back now. 8 weeks i guess. And that is just the tip of the iceberg. Hurd, TT, both OTs, McKinnon.....you all know the story.
So yes, 2 yrs of just a load of krapt piled on our heads (and same for KS and JL), but depth somehow this yr was such that we somehow make it into not just the playoffs with last play of the game Ws in 3 of our last 5 games....but we get bye and #1 Seed.
So maybe all the fear that many feel is due to the incredible injury strewn course of the last 3 yrs but this yr, depth has kept us alive. That and JimmyG here and healthy all yr. The addition of Deebo and then acquiring Emmanuel in trade with DEN....that didn't hurt either. Au jus returns in 5-6 weeks. Kittle comes back. Dwelley stands out.
What the point is , is that despite adversity, we are winning with skill, depth, health late in season added back in, more depth, emergence of AA, and pairing with Nick, Buck and Dee....best DL in league , best HC/OC in the league.... I mean it goes on and on. Maybe....just maybe.....after waiting 20 some yrs for a winner , we have evolved into it, close calls and all. Recall that loss to Ravens was by last play,. Loss to SEA by last play...i am blocking on 3rd loss but wasn't it by last play of game also?
We have won big at Panthers and against GB. We have squeaked by too many to count. The talent is here, the coaching is here, the health, while nicked up, is better than most other teams at this time of yr. 2019 will be remembered league wide as yr of the IR.
So for those fearful of Vikes, just keep in mind where we have come from , what we lived thru, and still...here we are. Who's to say this isn't our year? It has been an absolute panic attack yr, , each game going right to the final whistle. Why not us to win it all this yr.? Certainly we can take the Vikes. No blowout , but a W.
So those that are worried, understandable. But couldnt' this just be our yr? Why the hell not? Still it is one game at a time and Vikes we beat. Better HC/OC, QB, even on WRs, better TE, Au jus has no equal, OL refurbished and with depth ready to go, DL best in league and healthy, Dre, KWON, Freddie, uncle sherm, et al. With Dee playing we have a huge advantage on D. With healthy OL we have advantage on O. Thiel and his buddy will be tough, and so will Dalvin...Kirk is better than he looks....But we win
