The line opened as SF -6.5. It is now SF favored by 4.5.
A lot of people in the media and apparently betters are all in on the Panthers. Let's piss some more people off today!!

Playing at home helps our cause. Panthers have the most sacks in the NFL right now, but our defense collectively is better. I can see Sherman picking off Allen, I'd like for Eman to snatch one. Mccafferey is a great talent but he hasn't met this defense yet. Carolina might load the box but Breida is the highest rated player in yards per attempt in all of the nfl when teams load the box, not to mention jimmy now has sanders to throw to.
The whole sacks thing is without context imo. For example they've had 75 more pass rush attempts then SF this yr (and played TB 2x & the Texans). You have to actually have attempts to get high sack numbers. SF is shutting down offenses with 3 in outs.
They bring pressure with a lot of blitzes, while SF brings a ton of pressure with just 4 guys. Allen gonna have issues with that and 7 guys in coverage.
I didn't realize that, now your making me more confident that we get the win.
This is the game for me to see just where Jimmy Is. No more excuses, if he plays average to bad today, and no more saying he isn't a good QB if he performs good to great. As noted, the Panthers have a great pass rush, regardless how that do it or the competition( 49ers have faced similar opponents too), they have the ability to put a ton of pressure on the opposing QBs. Jimmy's best game to date is still against Jacksonville or Sacksonville two seasons ago. That was a team that put a lot of pressure on the opposing QBs as well and Jimmy, still mostly under the influence of Josh McDaniels, Belichick, and the Patriots training, really broke the Jags who hasn't been the same since. Unfortunately neither has Garoppolo who looked like he was well on his way to becoming the new face of the NFL QBs. Now fully acclimated into Kyle Shanahan's playbook, playing with more overall talent then he ever has, it's time for Jimmy to have a breakout game with the whole world watching against a good and dangerous team in the Carolina Panthers. Imo think today helps answers a lot of questions about Garoppolo and the 49ers today, good or bad.
Well, seeing as the starting left guard AND starting right guard won't be playing, I think it will be tough for JG to shine in this game. We need to be able to run and execute screens. And JG will need to know where his hot read is always. As long as we don't turn the ball over we should win this one.

These 2 games against the Cards are very tricky. Short week coming off what will be a physical game against CAR having to chase around Murray, may not be fun to watch. The Cards defense stinks, but they can rush the passer and with Peterson back, they can commit more to the LOS to stack the box against the run. We also play them again on a short week coming off an emotional MNF game against Seattle who has OWNED the 49ers as of late.

Norv Turner has beaten some good and bad 49er teams as a HC and assistant. Eager to see how Saleh does against him.

In the pregame thread, I predicted a 49ers loss... but with the addition of Sanders, I'm reversing my call. He adds enough for us to win this one.
49ers 24 Panthers 20
Sanders gets his first TD in a Red Uniform, a 30+ yard connection from Jimmy G. Kittle gets a TD thru the air and Coleman on the ground. No Interceptions, one fumble from Wilson.
Niners ring up more sacks than the Panters. Win the turnover margin with one strip sack and one interception.
Let's go Niners!

Going to be windy. Not a good sign for our passing game.

Despite Falcons TE Austin Hooper being in the last year of his contract and team being pressed against cap, Atlanta will not trade its young TE by Tuesday's deadline.
I think Adam was hinting at the bears

With the forecast for gusting winds around 40 mph I don't think the passing game will decide who wins this (unless there are lots of turn overs in the passing game). The team that runs most effectively wins a low scoring game. The wind could cause some turnovers on anything tossed over 15 yards today lol. 9ers prevail 20-13.

Is it going to be smokey in Santa Clara because of the Kincade fire? I know the winds are blowing south.

Meh this isn't close to a make or break game for JG imo. He's got two backup tackles and SF IS a running team. He's not gonna throw up top end fantasy stats the way the team has been winning.
Just move the ball when you're asked too & get 3rd down completions...If he can cut back on the one stupid INT a game we're in business.
