Generally when you see a team have two early passes bounce right out of their hands, it makes one think of being over- amped. I think they wanted to stick it on Pitts so bad they just couldn't wait. Both those first two INTs should have been caught. I think it just took a quarter for the O ball handlers to settle down, concentrate and perform. Both guys took their eyes off the ball is my recollection, but INTs count against JG not the receivers. Still don't get the reasoning behind that but .... so i hope we come out for Browns, ready, confiident, but thinking in the moment, not 3 plays hence. The fact we won a game we by rights should have lost....tells you how bad we wanted that game.
I don't ever recall seeing a team make 5 T.Os and then win. So despite early game micues our guys hunkered down and won it. Still, an amazing feat against a really stout Pitts D.
Yeah, I agree. ShanaLynch got a team without divas. Each player wants to prove himself. The downside is some try a bit too hard, and that creates turnovers, penalties, missed assignments. This team just needs a history or culture of winning. In the first Super Bowl year, the Niners took most of 1981 to realize how good they were. As someone mentioned, the Niners had six TOs in the championship game with the Cowboys. Throughout the Super Bowl years, they didn't panic when thing didn't go well.
I stand corrected and will just blame it on age, especially since i saw that game. But you got it right....against Pitts, down because of 5 T.Os the guys DIDN"T panic and won anyway. I'll admit to some luck near the end of the game, but being "lucky" is being prepared when something bad happens to the other team. And that was us in Pitts game.
I just hope that sticks with these guys....they get more confidence with each W...and the Pitts game proved it. Bill Parcells would have bet his retirement money that we lost with 5 T.Os....but the guys were prepared , kept nose to grindstone, and overcame. That is really a good sign..
