If you guys don't mind, I'd like to contribute some of my own analysis, breaking down Jimmy's personality in this game.
This is one play that stood out to me with Jimmy's personality that we didn't see last week. Last week, Jimmy came out and didn't show much body language or emotion, and the entire offense looked rough and shaky as a result.
Here, right out of the gate, we see Jimmy keeping his eyes down field surveying for an opportunity to display the 'dog' or in football terms we like to use, the "it".
The dog goes off in Jimmy's head, and he immediately recognizes the coverage and makes a decisive decision. This is what you want to see from your franchise quarterback and what makes them elite.
Jimmy successfully exploits the opening in the defense, and has several options in which he can demonstrate his personality on this play.
1.Blue, Jimmy can utilize the whip route to the strong side
2.Yellow, a post-corner to the hook zone
3.Green, he can motion to the weak-side on an out
4.Red, Jimmy can choose the flat or 'wheel' route underneath the defender's coverage
Jimmy takes the whip route to the strong side causing the defender to vacate.
Jimmy trusted his eyes, harnessed the "it" factor, and unleashed the dog in him resulting the perfect example of a well executed personality.
Here's the play in motion of the dog in Jimmy
Touchdown.
