Absolutely hate the new pass interference review rule. This will decide games and its nothing more then a judgment call.

Whew. Breathe easy. PFF happy with Hurd and Deebo.

careful. you start being critical of him. especially with the way the two kids played, no ones job is safe in my opinion . i am also not counting on taylor for anything this year, like jet

Jet I wouldn't either but Taylor should be ok it's just a pinkie toe. Unless he rushes back he needs to produce when he gets back. They better pick up two additional decent depth pieces for that OL. Don't have to be great just serviceable. Just like Coleman and Tomlinson the last couple years. Maybe only one because Garland will go back to the bench but be safe and grab 2! Jimmy next week which means starting OL minus Richburg. Idk one series and done I hope then wait for week 1.

Only saw the highlights but I think you have to be encouraged by the play of Hurd and Samuels. Seems like they bring a toughness to the receiving corps that has been lacking. Greenlaw had a couple of mistakes but seemed to play pretty well in general according to the reports. A trio of Warner, Alexander and Greenlaw at linebacker could have some upside. Three young guys who can all move and get after the ball. Hard to make any sort of assessment with so many starters sitting but regardless of the circumstance I think it is always nice to get a win to start off the year, even if it is only in preseason. Helps set the tone and gives the young guys something to build on.

!8 penalties!!! Jeez that's a lot even for a pre season game. About half were holding by the O line which was makeshift at best. The hit by Colbert wasn't really that bad. I replayed that frame by frame and it was clear to me that when he lowered his head he also turned it to the side so he actually hit the player wth his shoulder in the chest. It wasn't in the face or head area. They called a hit on a defenseless player but the ball was right there. I'm not sure what constitutes a defenseless player but that type of call just makes it really hard on the players and officials. I really hate it when they eject a player for one hit like that unless it was really an obvious cheap shot. They need to look at the NBA where they have a flagrant 1 and 2 call so players aren't ejected when there was no real intent to injure the other player.

Fun game to watch, glad 49ers football is back!!

Offense -
I think Mully is a lock for the #2 QB spot and CJ will be cut/traded. Mully looks like a legitimate QB with his only knock being arm strength, but we can work with that. CJ is in year 3 and still doesn't seem to have "it". I do like CJ's arm, but he still holds on to the ball to long. I wish CJ nothing but good luck in his future endeavors. Speight is a project and hope to hide the UCLA kid on our PS. He looks like a prototypical QB with his size at 6'6.

RB's look great. Walter has some nice wiggle and isn't afraid to put his head down and fight for yardage. Wilds looking good for being freshly signed, but will like to see more. I think we can all agree that RB's will not be a concern this year. Major depth and upside.

The rooks looked solid in their first game action. Hurd will be a TD machine with his size and Deebo will be a playmaker. I was upset with KB with his drops and bad penalties. I was really rooting for him to make the team, but at this moment I think he will be disposable. Richie bounced back nicely after the drop and played well. I really like his route running and speed he brings to the O and remember he will be a ST weapon. I definitely see him making the squad and contributing nicely. I believe we will keep 6 WR's. Goodwin, Pettis, Hurd, Deebo, Richie and Matthews (solid vet experience). Maybe we can stash TT on IR and he can comeback week 9? This lets him heal and not be rushed back? Also, Poindexter looked like a nice project with his size. Will like to watch his preseason unfold.

Not much to say about TE's as we know we have the best one in the league; GK! Dwelley and Kaden will fight for the #2 spot and Celek will be out the door. Toilolo looked nice, but I believe him to be an odd man out.

Did not get a chance to see our starting OL, but the backups look meh. As always, the run blocking is superb but pass blocking is weak. I think our starters will be okay this year but if we face any major injuries, we will be in for a long ride. You know we can count on Staley and MM to hold the ends but the guard play will always be a weakness until we address it in FA/trade/draft with some big maulers. OL along with CB's will need to be areas addressed in upcoming seasons.

Defense -
We all know our DL will be a monster this year with our #1 picks. Hope Bosa can stay healthy. I think he can be great, but his injury history is a bit concerning for me. In my world, you need to show me your talent on the field and produce. Having great upside is awesome, but being injured and not showcasing talent helps nobody. Wishing him nothing but the best and most success, but some guys are just injury prone. Hope he proves me wrong and has a solid 12yr career winning a few superbowls with the red and gold! With that said, Street looked good, glad to see him back fighting. Jillian Taylor shows promise. Sheldon Day has a good game (Go ND). Valoaga beat up on some soon-to-be out of the league players, but will like to see more of him after his performance. All in all, but DL will be a strength for this team for years to come. I dig it.

Al-Shaair looked sharp out there and if he keeps it up, he can get a spot on the 53. Mayo looks slow and I can see him getting cut. He brings experience, but I rather go with youth. Greenlaw is going to be a stud. He looked like Willis/Bowman flying around hitting people. Excited to see what he brings this year and think sky is the limit. With Fred, Kwon, Greenlaw and our DL, our front 7 will be a monster this year.

As for our CB's, going to be a long year if anything happens to Sherm. Outside of Sherm, our CB's look weak and cant stay with a WR. Same stuff (can I curse?), different year. Hoping Witherspoon can be that great #2, but who knows. Happy with the Verrett pickup, but like I said about Bosa above, you are no good to the team if you are always hurt. We need him to stay healthy and produce because the rest of our CB's are average. Tim Harris Jr is a nice project and he played well last night, will like to watch him more this preseason. I think we can be good if Sherm stays healthy, Ahkello steps his game up another notch, Verrett/K'waun say healthy and Harris Jr keeps flashing.

Our safety play has no reason to not be great. I look at the roster and think they all have promise, but it just comes down to who wants it more. I like these guys; Taritt, Exum, Colbert, Marcell, Ward. I think we will find our Goldson/Whitner combo with these guys. If the unit stays healthy, I can see our safeties being a strength, but only time will tell. Definitely rooting for them all.

Special Teams -
I feel like I have written a lot and will keep it short a sweet. Gould is great and Mitch will be great. Love what we have here and know we are set for the next 3yrs. As for returners, I like Richie. I think Richie is one of those guys that will be a threat to take it to the house every time he touches the ball. We also have Pettis who can handle business and TT for sure handed PR catches later in the year. Not worried about our ST units at all this year.
