Had saleh had our 2011-12 defense, it would be in best ever discussions and we would have multiple rings those years.

Definitely that 94 team with Deion, Young, Stubbs, Jackson, Norton, Woodall, Plummer, Hanks, McDonald, Eric Davis...WOW.
Tough to beat that one. The '81 team sent 3 DB's to the pro bowl and had a young Keena Turner and Dan Bunz and Fred Dean. Some good ones back when Hardman was playing too. I think that group set the team season record for sacks.
AS MUCH as I love the 94 team w/Deion, I still believe that the 1984 team was the best one we ever had...
Heck, Dan " The Man " Marino was brought down back to earth..

Dwayne Board was our only double-digit sack guy with 10, but we still wound up with 51. We got sacks from everybody and his mother that year. We had Dean, Board, Pillars, Stuckey, and Gary "Big Hands" Johnson on the line. Michael Carter may have been the best nose we ever had and he traded off with Tuiasosopo, who also had 4 sacks. Ronnie still played CB.
That team gave up 14 pts./game (after the first three games it was 11.5 pts./game), and in the playoffs against the best the league could throw against them? 26 total points in 3 games.
totally agree. That defense was as dominant as the Baltimore Ray Lewis and the Tampa Two John Lynch defense. If not for the '84 offense outshining the '84 defense, it would have been up there with those two legendary defenses. Not far behind would be the
almost
three-peat defense of the late '80s and early '90's super bowl team. If not for a stupid pass interference penalty in the Steeler game, I think that '84 team would have gone 19-0.

Did you ever see the video of how Bill Walsh got the team ready to play against an invincible offense (I'm afraid I don't have the link)? Marino had set the all-time TD passing record; no one stopped him. The Marks, Clayton and Duper, at WR with HOF HC Don Shula.
Walsh quite literally laid down flat on the locker room floor in front of the guys and said, "Oh NO! We're facing Marino!!! What are we going to do (implied sob sobs)? Freakin' priceless. Our pass rush was never, ever, better than in that game and I bet the guys were still laughing at Walsh's antics,

That 84 secondary is arguably the best of all time. 4 pro bowlers
and name another secondary that can hold dan Marino and his record shattering year to 1 td and make him look like garbage.Speaking of Looking like garbage, that 89 defense was also arguably the best playoff defense of all time. Holding John Elway to nothing whatsoever making him look not only like a bad quarterback, but an awful one. The Bears defense was terrific except their secondary wasn't great and they had way easier opponents. Dan Marino also tore them up the year they won the sb in 85

If saleh coached that team, that defense would rank last.
