The 49ers have a method when it comes to the defensive line. Same goes with the offensive line. They pick up linemen late in the draft and let them sit a year or two. We can afford to do that now. When one of them goes down to injury or leaves via free agency, it's next man up.

However, there are special players like Buckner and Bosa that will probably get long-term deals. Provided Bosa can stay healthy and effective. Buckner has already proved that through three solid seasons of play. Buckner deserves the deal that Armstead will not get.

How fun wa ls it to see him singled up. Imagine his numbers had Ford been an every down player or was healthy all year. Unreal.

Yup. And the key thing is that Dee came out of the game with nary an injury. If that hamstring bothered him, he didn't say anything and it certainly did not show on the field. In fact, Dee got stronger as the game went on.

I agree. Lynch even said that he thinks someone will pay top dollar for Armstead. So it's likely he's not here next year, we get a 3rd round compensory pick for him and we ask Solly, Street, Zittel, and Blair to step up into Armstead's role.

I'd honestly think about putting Buck at DE and Solly inside

Yeah, we're blessed to be able to have this conversation now. In previous years I could not understand how and why we were wasting all that draft talent on linemen who were, in my opinion, not all that effective.

As it turns out, all we needed is a match to light that spark. As great as Bosa has been, Dee Ford was the game changer that made that defensive line go from good to absolutely freaking great.

He said in his interview after the game that he had the wind knocked out of him. He said he could have gotten up sooner too but the trainers told him to stay down for a bit to make sure everything was fine.

I think we are good here and have no reason to worry.

I know it's only one year, but Bosa creates havoc like Charles Haley. I love how the coaches line him up everywhere on the D line on passing downs.

Why wouldn't you franchise him? Someone will come calling for him just like they did for Frank Clark.

Not sure what people could see on tv, but at the game the entire collective crowd went silent and held our breaths. The whole D looked like they had seen a ghost and immediately went to one knee. As he laid there, a Bosa chant started in the end zone and kept building in volume...Bosa poops up and the crowd cheers loudly...he gets hyped and throws is arms in the air and the crowd goes bananas. It was crazy.
