No way you can count on this. Triple ACL. 1 High School and 2 NFL. Will be 29 next October. A player approaching 30 and 3 times severe knee injuries. We need this yet again too. DE/Edge pass rusher is now a big draft requirement. In addition to OT to replace Trent and C, LG. Still have to pick the lines again. This is a real mess. Not only for this year. But ongoing for the future. You simply can't rely on this. A big contract of guaranteed money too. Great when healthy. But often not healthy. Much like his brother. They have trouble staying on the field. The best ability is availability.
Yeah kind of feels like he might be damaged goods at this point with this latest injury. Will still be productive, but no where near what we will be paying him and hoping he will be.
We might be able to get someone to take on his contract, but highly doubtful. Might just have to bite the bullet and hope he comes back productive enough for the next couple of years.
They just have to keep him the next few years. Very likely. But don't count on him to be the same as he was. Or to be healthy with longevity. With his injury history he could miss a lot of time. We need to draft the next guy now. For pass rusher. DE/OT are at the top of the draft list. We could use either side. Since this team favors defense and defensive line and almost always ignores offensive line you would expect it to be DE.
