I hope not. If the 49ers are going to concede, they need to do it now and stop jeopardizing games. What's the point of doing it after week 2? The writing is on the f**king wall now and has been for weeks: Nick's team ain't giving an inch. Concede now or don't at all, Paraag.
Personally, I don't expect to see Nick Bosa play this season if it doesn't get situated before Sunday.
Really? I don't think it gets done before Sunday so you had better be wrong about that.

Not looking good. Not in the building preparing with the team. We need to prepare for 8 games without him. hopefully Jackson and Clelin Ferrell can generate an adequate pass rush teams have to prepare for, otherwise the season is over.
Sign Melvin Ingram, make Bosa play out his contract, draft a pass rusher with our top pick in next years draft, tag Bosa in 2025, and again in 2026. Now, if we can go 6-2 while he's out we win back the leverage.

Like you said, this negative situation could be a positive, if they sign more DE help… yet we all know they won't before a loss to Pittsburg.

This sums it up best.
"Bosa has been getting ripped off for 4 years based on his production" "Now it's time for him to get paid"

That should;ve already been done. They missed teh vet DE market which was pretty cheap. Even with Bosa they don't have any other proven edge pass rush on the roster.

How do they sign more players with no cap space? People forget that we are over the cap until he signs the extension.

Given that our new DC loves to design and call blitz packages, AND we have the quickest group of linebackers and safeties in the NFL, I suspect the team won't miss Bosa as much. At least in the short term. As teams adapt to the 49ers blitz packages, we will need Bosa back in the lineup.

Every NFL players dream is to play in a SB. You think he's going to sit out the playoffs over money?
There's no chance. If he does it will kill him. The locker room and the perception to everyone will be he doesn't love the game.
The niners can also franchise tag him repeatedly and keep forcing him to play 6 games while only paying him for the 6 games and likely the playoffs. It's like a great player rental just for the games that matter.
The team has all the leverage after a few games.
They can mess with him and his career significantly if they want to.
I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure he has to report by week 8 or week 9 (due to the bye week) or his contract for this year gets push to next year. He gets no credit for this season.
The 49ers bye week is week 9 this season. So that would give the 49ers a week to get him up to speed for the rest of the season.
That would put Bosa in line for 9 games played either way due to the bye week.
I am almost certain it is not 6 games to get credit for a season.
Playing the playoffs would be dumb for Bosa. The whole point of the hold out is, I am not about to get hurt with no long term security. Playing in the playoffs with no long term security is counter to that point.
Bosa knows he gets dinged up and hurt pretty regularly.... I don't blame the dude for wanting security.
**** put on your tin foil hat if you intend to read further****
I don't think we are talking about security at this point anymore tho.... Bosa wants control of where he plays in the future and wants this Franchise Tag threat removed from the chessboard..... I think he wants as much 5 year DE money as he can get in 3 maybe 4 years and the ability to sign a long term deal in 3 years here or elsewhere.

Is this true? I thought we had the second most cap space currently?

That is the reality of it. He's been a premier edge rusher from day one - an awesome all around player, not just pass rusher. We got him on the cheap for four years on his rookie scale contract. The team should of immediately offered him the highest paid defensive player in the league, possibly even non-qb. idk why anyone would think anything else.
we all know he was robbed of all pro 2 years ago & comeback player of the year. He was DPOY & first team all pro last year - deservedly so. just pay the man and get this over, lets not waste a game risking him not playing and potentially losing.
I don't think we have a terrible line without him, but it's not even close to what it should be without him.

I honestly don't think this is an automatic loss. We still have a better defense. Now, we should have signed a vet off the street a long time ago. But I honestly think that the FO really didn't think it would be like this, which is derelict on their parts. But I still have us beating the Steelers. Even without Bosa this is a veteran team. We'll get it done.
