It isn't that complicated. They want SF to feel the heat they are feeling now. That's the entire deal. You can't get a deal done months ago, when one side wants to drag it out, so the other feels the heat. It's called leverage. The Nick camp leverage is they can wait SF out, and see if that gets them a better deal. That's what they are doing. I don't fault Nick, or his camp, or the team. Sometimes this is how negotiations go.

I don't get what it is, is Bosa asking for the moon, or are the 49ers being stingy. Like Brian Baldinger said, they've made players the highest paid, Kittle, Warner, Trent, traded for CMC, no reason to not give Bosa more than Donald. So annoyed, we need Bosa.
If the goal was make Bosa the highest paid DE in football, this would have been done in preseason....
If the goal was make Bosa the highest paid Defender in football, this would have been already......
Bosa's camp must be asking for something highly complicated, or something that puts Nick in to free agency much earlier then expected. The 49ers REALLY don't want something that takes a 5 years cap impact and shrinks it down to 3 or 4 years at a players whim.
IT must be something like yeah...we will give you tons of guaranteed money but this is a 5 year fixed contract, and Bosa's camp must be like nah...we want an opt out at 3 years. Now all of a sudden that guaranteed money you wanted to spread over 5 comes due all at once.
This would be easy to fix by putting bonus in year 3 and year 5 to spread out the cap hit, and Bosa's camp has no intention of being on "this" contract by year 5.
I would bet Bosa's camp wants something like 3 years with a player option of 2 more (that don't retire clause we are hearing about maybe) and puts it in writing he can't have the Franchise Tag applied to him.
I would bet this is no longer about money and more about long term control.
That is kind of what I'm thinking. If he really wants to eventually go to a different team for whatever reason, he will want to sign a short term contract with a high payout. Something the 49ers definitely don't want.
Not sure what is going on though and everything is speculation.

The 49ers control his contract. At best, Bosa can sit out / stop playing. The 49ers can pay him far under top DE money if they really wanted to. That may cause animosity, but to think Bosa has all the leverage is laughable.

The greatest in the league though........and 25 years old. How can we be low balling him. He deserve unequivocally 40 -45 mill per year with at least 110 guaranteed. Not even debatable.
He very well may be the best player in the league outside of the QB position, again.
You don't even know what he's actually asking for and what we are offering, lol,
Don't let me stop you from crying!
Did I mention he is 25 freaking years old.....PRIME.

At this point, both sides are going to use Sunday's game as leverage for their stance. I see no way Bosa plays Sunday.

Love the people on X (Twitter) saying how Bosa is gonna cost us Kittle, juice and BA 😂
My god people do you not understand how the cap works and how old these guys (Kittle/Juice) will be when Bosa's cap hit becomes huge?
they can have all these dudes for the next two seasons and possibly more if they give Kittle an extension when it's needed. Juice is gonna be gone (retire) by then and BA's contract is gonna be big numbers for a couple years all the same.
Some tough decisions will always need to be made, but that's the same for every single team.

People have said that in here too, and its laughable. When pressed about it, no one has come up with a reasonable explanation as to why they think that is the case.
