So is he just holding out because Chris Jones and Brian Burns haven't been signed yet?
Meaning Bosa wants to be the highest paid of the three?
Gussing Jones is holding out for Brian Burns.
Burns is holding out for both Bosa and Jones, so he could get something close...but obviously much less lol.
But joking aside I think Bosa is waiting for Chris Jones to get his deal.

He's trying. Bosa is just saying it's not good enough
Maybe it's not, I hope he is signed by the end of the day for sure. It's frustrating to be in the dark as a fan, but I cannot say it's unexpected. Joey had 2 long negotiations to this point, so it makes sense.
For me it's pretty transparent. The team wants him signed. The team realizes his worth. It takes two to tango. The player, more likely his representation, want to hold off. There are other DL deals out there, they don't want to sign and have those come in a second later, ahead of Nick. The agent would look stupid. It's almost like waiting for dominos to fall. We will soon find out if Nick wants to play football, more than waiting to be the last domino to fall. I think he does.

If Bosa doesn't sign and he misses this game, I hope he comes within 1 or 2 sacks of breaking the single season record and does NOT get it, then wishes he had more games.
Some folks have mentioned Bosa slowing down in the playoffs because he only had one sack. If he holds out until week 4, then he'll be less worn out for the playoffs. Genius move - the league is playing tic tac toe while the 49ers are playing Connect 4.
Except the league doesn't call holding penalties on Bosa during the post season. If they only did his numbers would even be better.

Do you make $88,000 per year and live somewhat comfortably?
In 20 YEARS you will have earned what Nick Bosa has been offered by the 49ers to play ONE GAME per week.
F Bosa TBH.
On the flip side....
Does your work performance help bring in millions of dollars in revenue in sales (tickets, merchandise, etc) each year? I'm all for paying a player for what they bring to the table.
Those ticket sales will continue whether Bosa or anyone else earns $30 million per year. People watch the gmes and it doesn't matter how much the players are getting paid. I've seen no evidence at all that player performance improves with higher pay. it's an ego thing as much as anything else. Ego and agents. Players long ago bypassed the level where they weren't getting paid enough.
I'm not saying the player's performance improves, I'm basing it on what they can bring in. If you had $250 to spend on a ticket, would you buy Browns vs Washington or 49ers vs Kansas City? Same question regarding a jersey, etc. The better the team, the more valuable and profitable it is.

Lol well there you go poking holes. That would suck indeed if it's a jackass agent just trying to play the what-if game. Either way, I hope we get him signed soon, he's my favorite player. Would hate to see us go without him Sunday.
Seriously though, how great does it feel to know that this Sunday is a 49er Sunday. Best stretch of the year.

So much for his word. 🥴
His agent and the nflpa said hell no!
This. His agent is trying to show other players he's the man you want (and make some serious coin for himself).
Mike Garafolo just said it sounds like they're in the same ballpark ($30M+ per) that they just need to meet in the middle and sign that s**t. It's not like SF is low balling.

If he signed in five minutes he would be limited. Didn't Kyle already say a week or two ago he would not be surprised if not signed by week 1? Didn't he already provide the answer in a limited fashion? Or am I dreaming and he never said that?
It is already too late. His count would be held and very limited. I get the fact being there should happen but the bottom line to be an impactful player the entire game? That ship sailed with a bunch on millions on-board. Nick waved goodbye from the shore.

Bosa deserves to be the highest paid DE in the league. That'd be what, 28.5M? Does that clarify my opinion?
He's not gonna starve if he doesn't pull in per game what it takes a random team employee 20 years to earn.
Half the players on this team deserve double what they're currently making.
Football teams have over 53 players on their roster. The long snapper is always going to be paid peanuts compared to an all-pro pass rusher. And?
Do you have the same energy when a CTO of a company makes per year what a janitor in the company makes in twenty years? They are both employees of the same company after all.

Yup. I think 9/7 is around the time things will get done
I don't think the agent is some villain, he's just doing his job. His job is to get the best contract he can for Nick. Probably waiting this long will bump it up a bit. Kyle probably upstairs right now his face as red as his hat. A coach always wants his top guys out there.

The problem is the amount of time it has taken. Okay, nothing wrong with going for the prize but it has been known for a very long time what someone like ADs contract is. If the goal was we will only sign if ADs contract surpassed that was known when they could start discussing this past spring. It is no longer beating AD it is by how much. It sure seems to me, a big nobody, is not only does he want to beat it, he wants to eclipse it by a huge margin. His argument will probably be AD is winding down. When all is said and done I will be the greatest defensive player to have ever played (hey he believes it. Good for him)
How much above that AD line to sign? I think folks have to stop saying a million or two here. Come on it would be done. He wants AD number blown out of the water.
This is the ONLY reason that is explainable why he has not signed. Not $1m or $2m. That is nuts.

The club can't sit in a room by itself and come out with an agreed upon deal. Both parties have to agree. The Bosa camp isn't agreeing to jack months ago. They want SF to feel the heat of going into week 1 without their star. That saved Nick a lot of mandatory camp, also when SF feels the heat, they may really up their offer. That's what is going on here. Only way to get it done months ago is offer $50m per year or something stupid, and fans wouldn't have wanted that. That's my theory, the agent wants SF to feel the heat they are feeling now. A deal months ago wasn't in the cards, without a comical overpay. Now is the time both sides are highly incentivized to come to agreement.

This is not a kid who is controlling the negotiations. His mom and dad and agent probably are running the show and he goes along. Bosa just plays football and lets "his people" handle the business stuff.
His mom probably forgot to renew his license. He just plays football. Nick has to be the one that tells everyone to wrap things up and just get it done so he can start playing.
