Na....Bosa is the greatest non QB player in the league. The market is the market. He deserves a way big contract than Donald, that was a couple of years ago, inflation..... .....he is freaking 25 yrs old. Maybe even 45 mil over 10 yrs. FO is so cheap!

He very well may the best non QB in the league. He's definitely right there. And it's completely normal for premium players, and sometimes even non premium players, to re-set the market when their contract is signed.

Take a breath man. Jfc, lol.

Anyone that understands the NFL market, would know that it makes complete sense for Bosa to reset the market. I don't think the niners have any issue with that either - specifically resetting the pass rusher market.

My guess would be that it's more to do with structure of the contract and guaranteed money. especially over the course of the first two years of the contract. maybe bosa is trying to squeeze another mil or so, but i think this is closer than we think.

I think your spot on, the yearly average is always a smokescreen it all comes down to guaranteed cash and the minor details like injury clauses. In the end he will be the highest paid non-qb and with the salary cap continuing to increase whatever they give him will be considered cheap in a couple years. Pay Bosa!

Bosa will sign Sunday morning and parachute into the stadium on game day during warm up's. Heard it through the grapevine. Don't tell anyone about it, it's a secret.

A stud QB, LT, DE

those are the positions you shell out big $$$ for

Yep. Though I'd use pass rusher as it leaves room for the dominant OLB (in a base 3-4) and DT as well.

CB and WR probably next on the hierarchy.
Now Mike Lombardi has to weigh in, he thinks the deal is close. Oh thank you so much Captain obvious we already know that dipwad. There's still a huge difference between close and consummating the deal.

Your right. why should I care about affordability or team cap or really the unbalance of wealth in general.

Give him 40 mill for 10 years guaranteed. sign and let's go!

Where were you when we overpaid for a TE, RB or a FB lol?

You must have lost your mind over the Jimmy g contract and the Trent Williams deal lol.

Na.....its just money. Who cares. Not mine.

I can't stand that dude

And just look how bitter he is about that. When the NFL had that ceremony with all former Super Bowl MVPs, he refused to participate unless they paid him.
Yea, that was a bad look.
How soon will NT post a contest regarding when Bosa will sign?

Highest paid edge is some BS, imo. Donald signed in June 2022, that's over a year ago. And cap keeps going up. I feel it's lowballing if they are offering less than Donald. How are you gonna win DPOY and not get top D player dollars? I am hopeful SF would offer top d player dollars, not here you go you get less than Donald.

Donald also signed that contract after winning his THIRD DPOY award, not his first.
you telling me a took a paycut at work and bosa still isnt signed?

It's like there's a playbook for agents

That article adds a factor that I'm not sure is in play here though, in that the 1st game of the Steelers season served as a deadline, since they refuse to negotiate contracts once the season starts. I'm not sure that's in play in Santa Clara though. If he doesn't sign by Sunday, would the Niners negotiate during the season? If so this could drag out for 7 more weeks.

So does anyone know if this FO has a policy against negotiating contracts once the season has started? I love that Pittsburgh has that policy, it's like a "we don't negotiate with terrorists" policy, and absolutely played a part in getting Watt to sign before the season started. Would also help with future holdouts.

No urgency with this front office, reminds me of the Trent Dilfer signing a few years back and how each week it was, will he sign, did he sign or OMG Trent signed and is now our starting QB

Yeah those contract negotiations with Dilfer were pretty stressful times for a 49er fan.

s**t i don't even remember that

I don't think they ever re-signed Dilfer to a new contract. They traded for him.

those were dark times

I don't know if Bosa is the best non-qb in the league....there is a lot of high end dudes in the NFL.

What I do know, or at least what I do believe..... is the safest place to have near QB-ish money in the NFL outside of a blue chip QB is DE. When that DE also has absolutely no holes in his game and is as good at setting the edge and effecting the run game to the degree Bosa is....that is SAFE money.

This is as safe as the 49ers can spent money on a player as it can get.

I would bet this all but done.....at this point they probably have an understanding of what the money will look like, they are probably trying to figure out how to get the money on paper in the most manageable way possible.

the contract is probably complicated as hell and trying to get though legal.

I think it's always a little dangerous to have so much money invested in one guy, but it's the nature of the beast. He's a top 5 pass rusher in the NFL, conservatively, and there's no more important asset to a team outside of QB.

sure...... no doubt.......

but one of the sure fire ways to have a playoff changing defense is to have an elite pass rusher.

If 10% to 13% pressure rate guys grew on trees everyone would have one. Bosa is nearly a 16% guy......

If we don't resign Bosa we have to replace him with a 10-12% guy with a quickness or what are we doing.....this window can close with a quickness.

Agree 100 percent. He's the most valuable player on this team.
