I want you try something. Put yourself in Nick Bosas shoes. You're the very best player at your position and have an award that says this. You want as much money as possible from your employer so you aim super high. Now your employer doesn't want to pay it but also your employer has a deadline when they need you signed. Would it ever benefit you Nick Bosa to get this done months prior to the deadline?

No urgency with this front office, reminds me of the Trent Dilfer signing a few years back and how each week it was, will he sign, did he sign or OMG Trent signed and is now our starting QB

Yeah those contract negotiations with Dilfer were pretty stressful times for a 49er fan.

s**t i don't even remember that

I don't think they ever re-signed Dilfer to a new contract. They traded for him.

Dude has to be talking about Williams lol because who the hell will be refreshing pages and nervous about signing Dilfer?

Hard to enjoy the lead up with this Bosa cloud hovering. Silly front office, do something.

Give him 40 mill for 10 years guaranteed. sign and let's go!

Where were you when we overpaid for a TE, RB or a FB lol?

You must have lost your mind over the Jimmy g contract and the Trent Williams deal lol.

This is an odd hypothetical, in that, if you simply swith the 49ers' FO with Bosa, the implied outcome is the same.

The larger point I think the OP is trying to make, is that it behooves all invovlved to get this deal done ASAP. And having it done months ago, for the right terms, obviously, would have been equally, if not more, beneficial for all involved parties.

As of today it really is not a big deal. If it bleeds into the season....

Nah, it was Dilfer without Bosa, we are as close to winning the Super Bowl as we were when Trent was our starting QB

2nd most important but we are without a second QB contract. Give it to him. Back up the Brinks truck. Let's go. What Bosa wants, he get!

Or don't, and significantly hamper your chances of winning a SB. So you can sign a couple other guys who are much less important and are much easier replaced.

Again, choices to make. We're two years away from having to pay a QB, ideally.

Na....Bosa is the greatest non QB player in the league. The market is the market. He deserves a way big contract than Donald, that was a couple of years ago, inflation..... .....he is freaking 25 yrs old. Maybe even 45 mil over 10 yrs. FO is so cheap!

Na.....its just money. Who cares. Not mine.

He very well may the best non QB in the league. He's definitely right there. And it's completely normal for premium players, and sometimes even non premium players, to re-set the market when their contract is signed.

Take a breath man. Jfc, lol.

i mean from the 49ers side. wrap it up early. most other teams would push this to week 1
They knew he was going to ask to be the highest paid non QB
they knew it was gong to be in the 30+ mil ballpark
They knew he had ALL the leverage.

And they drug their feet ALL THE WAY to week 1?!

Hes not playing his week, and i doubt it gets done before week 2

There my little rant is done

The greatest in the league though........and 25 years old. How can we be low balling him. He deserve unequivocally 40 -45 mill per year with at least 110 guaranteed. Not even debatable.
