If anything, if confirms that final spot is coming down to Matthews vs. James which means Bourne is done. And based on his tweet, it certainly sounds like he knows this.

And Kyle barely gave James any run as a WR last year. At least he's getting more of a shot this TC.

It's been obvious to those who are paying attention. People keep bringing up ST but we already have some of the best gunners in the league. We also have an apleathra of capable return men. I'm guessing DJ Reed will be the KR and Pettis will be the punt returner.

Pettis was taking punts even last game too. In the past for kickoffs, we've used Mostert, Breida, Reed, Taylor, etc.

But James has done well there. Credit where credit is due.

Pass was telegraphed bruh defender knew it was going that way. Again it's not like Matthews dropped two easy passes. It should be telling at how little snaps Matthews is getting with the 1st teamers. I'm pretty sure Matthews is making this team until Taylor is healthy and ready to go.

That's a fair argument but my point stands.

I don't have a problem giving credit. He has looked pretty good as a return man. My point is we have a log jam at returner already. That's not going to be enough for him to make the team however.

You keep repeating that his Buffalo time isnt worth mentioning because he was injured.

He played 24 of 32 games.

That isnt "injured" enough to warrant it being a valid excuse. Period.

Breida played in most games last year too. Are you going to tell me he wasn't injured all year?

Did his injury prevent him from producing like you are claiming Matthews injury did? No.

That is not factored in to whether or not he makes the 53.

If he does make the 53, he may end being the guy who gets cut when Taylor comes back. Would have to show up and show out during Taylor's absence to try and keep his roster spot.

I disagree, he wouldn't shell out the money unless he was comfortable. He has been told he is part of the final 53.

That is absolute complete speculation.

Truth

I've always liked him but 4 teams in 3 years does say something.

We don't know the whole story why he wasn't retained.

we're getting down to the wire - and we'll find out soon.

i saw on the front page there was a article touting his camp. kyle loving him up and the article says he has a great chance to make the team... who knows.. it will be interesting!

Truth!

Absolutely, you don't agree? Hard to produce when you are getting pulled in and out of games all season long.

It could be considered speculation I suppose. I think it's fundamentally sound personally.

wasn't that the batted ball that he tried to stop while running full speed and almost caught? I hope you're not blaming the WR on that one. lol

would be pretty funny if they cut him after he spent all that money to get #81

not it was his 4th pass attempt on 3rd and 6. It was almost picked off. Matthews did NOT help with that play. I also think it was a poor decision by JG to throw there with Bausby squatting on the underneath route. BUT again Matthews was slow out his break.

oh the one when the line didn't block, yeah totally the WRs fault
lol

Why are people on WZ incapable of thinking that 2 players/positions could play poorly at the same time? That Matthews route was PATHETIC. Just because the line didnt block doesnt mean we cant criticize the horrendous route too. He was so slow out of the break and completely off balance that he needed to touch the ground with his hand to help him come out of the route. Awful.
Based off Shanahan's analysis of JM's off-season, he looks like a lock to make the roster. I know that confounds some of you, but I think if you give him a chance you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Okay so let's exercise your logic then. Emmit Smith played on one of the best teams ever and they were up often and early. Is the majority of Emmits career just garbage time then?

You cant be serious with this.

Wow. Just wow.

"Perspective" is the magic word for the day.

Comparing a running back piling up yards to wind down clock at the end of a game to a wide receiver piling up yards when the defense is playing prevent defense at the end of the game are two wildly different concepts. Has nothing to do with perspective. You are making excuses and using false comparisons.

The fact that you are comparing the two in effort to pump up Jordan Matthews is silly.

How is it different? A prevent is a pass defense and a base defense is supposed to stop the run right?

Its COMPLETELY different. Are you serious?

Prevent defense is to stop a big play and allow all the underneath stuff. Almost GIVING wide receivers underneath stuff.

At the end of a game, defenses are TRYING to stop the run. Selling out on the run almost.

I cant believe I even had to type this up. The fact that you think they are the same thing speaks volumes.
