Honestly dude hasn't earned a roster spot. Dude hasn't stood out in camp or thus so far in the 2 preseason games we played in.

That's because he is being protected like a starter. Hence why you haven't seen much of him in the preseason.

So they were also protecting him during training as well??? I know forsure it wasn't because of injury, dude was healthy all camp long.

Celek has 6 TD's the last 2 yrs whilst Toilolo has 8 in his career and only 2 in the 2 years playing for Kyle.

He was brought in for his blocking ability and because they knew Celek would be out a while due to his back and concussion concerns.

Some people like to ignore the glaring needs if it fits their narrative I guess. The day he signed I knew he was making the team.

Very true. I hope we keep 7 wrs bc if it's 6 I fear he might not make it. Let's hope so

yep,, and then i see a article today saying he has done well and has a good chance to make it. it will be interesting to see what happens! hey, even if he gets cut.. if he helped bring some competition to our guys from last year then it was worth bringing him in. i guess taylor is the wildcard in regards to mathews making the team?? or not??

I think he dropped 2 passes all of camp. Bourne and Richie dropped 2 in one game.
I hope this guy doesn't make the team. He isn't anything special and has had an injury plagued career. His best was his sophomore season and he didn't crack 1000. Niners need to get out their feelings and cut players like ward, Garnett etc. Wasting roster spots for the healthy guys. It's been long enough these guys keep stacking cheddar and prolly can't wipe their own arses!

No, you actually are debating about him making the team lol, if he was that good no one would be arguing with you about it...we wouldn't have all of the media talking about him being one of the last guys to make it/or get cut.

Just because you're saying he's as good as you say doesn't make it true lol. That's not how it works.
There's a lot of versatility with the backs and wideouts on the team. Backs have pass catching ability and wideouts have YAC potential. I am not concerned with the groups. I think it will actually be a problem getting reps which is a good thing. Kittle will start along with Goodwin I'd like to see a big fast guy on the opposite end on a two back set. Then after that there infinite possibilities.

do you think the only way he stays is due to taylors injury?

you totally made up that number. You have no idea how many balls he's dropped. None of us are at all the practices. From what I've seen he's gotten bodied by little DJ Reed in 1-on-1s, is trash coming out of his breaks, and played a part in Jimmy G almost throwing a 2nd pick last MNF.

The only way I see him making the team is if they put Taylor on IR.

I'm stating my position and you are stating yours. It's not my fault you don't think he will make the team. People said the Wright brothers were crazy for suggesting flight. So yeah that is actually how it works.

No it was reported if you actually take the time to read the daily reports.

Yes if Taylor goes on IR.

Mathews is purely a big slot WR. He isn't affective on the outside and contributes next to nothing on STs. If he's gonna be WR5/6 he's gotta play STs or he's not even gonna be active on game day.

This roster isn't the same as in the past, there's gonna be hard cuts to make and those guys at the bottom have to be able to do multiple things. James can play in the slot and outside. He returns kicks/punts and is actually pretty good at it. Bourne can play inside/outside and STs. IMO he's just as good in the RZ as well.
