Since when? He has a total of 6 TDs in the past 3 seasons.

I think 16 of his 22 TD's were in the redzone over the course of his career. I'm pretty sure that's what elguapo means.

Aren't most TD score within the redzone?

I am having difficulties finding the exact stat I am looking for. Trying to find out what percentage of touchdown passes are in the redzone versus out. The only thing I have found out which is close is that the average touchdown pass distance hasnt been further than 20 yards since 2005.

Saying someone is a "redzone monster" because he scores most of their touchdowns in the redzone, is a false conclusion IMO.

Saw that too.

That doesnt mean he is a "redzone monster" because he averages 3.2 redzone touchdowns a season. LOL

Dude is just awful. THL's breakdown of Jimmy's night confirmed that his terrible route running and sloppiness was the reason for the near pick 6.

Matthews needs to be cut. He provides the least upside out of any of our guys.

I mean you're complaining about one route in a Preseason game when Shanahan watches him every day in practice. I think since last week Thursday, Matthews has been targeted second most by Jimmy G.. Again, I don't get the hate for the guy on here its not like he dropped two easy passes against second or third stringers. If healthy he can't be any worse than what Garcon has shown since his time in SF.

GRESTEST sign of a bubble player being cut is when you see them making plays in the 4th quarter !!!
I've watched both preseason games and haven't seen him do anything worth noting.

No I am not. Feel free to look back in this thread. My dislike for Matthews and preference for basically any of the other WRs is well documented. He simply isnt very good.

I'm referencing your post above. In all honesty we don't know what he looks like in Shanahan's offense, can't truly make a decision basing it off the 7 snaps of two preseason games. Shanahan has stated he had a helluva camp not a helluva two preseason games.

Perhaps it could be your judgement that isn't very good? Kyle seems to like him.
At this pt who cares about the WR6 dude isn't gonna contribute much of anything and imo isn't any better than Bourne at this pt in his career.

James has looked better and is a solid return as well.

How many WRs dress on game day? 5? If that's the case dude might not even be active on game day because he doesn't do much of anything on STs.

We were one of the worst teams in the NFL last year inside the red zone with James and Bourne on the roster. Matthews isn t just a #6 WR who is going to be sitting on the bench. He is a big bodied guy who can run block and high point balls in the red zone and short yardage situation.. He will play early and often.

No he won't. He's got less TDs than Bourne in the past two yrs. dude is slow out of his breaks and can't separate. He offers nothing in STs and isn't good on the outside. At this PT I'll take Hurd as my big slot vs him.

People think we're getting Matthews from 2015 but he hasn't been that for a while...his injuries slowed him down is what it is.

I don't see Matthews making over guys like James and Bourne, plus like you said he's be inactive.

He just turned 27 years old. He has had a few injuries that have slowed him down but that doesn't mean he can't get healthy and play at a high level again. I don't understand this logic at all. He didn't forget how to play football and he is in his physical prime.
