That's the big one. Whomever the 6th is, he's going to be inactive on game days.
I am hoping he gets traded to a team hurting for WR's (NYG) and we get a late pick for him.
I thought Armstead was clocking in at $9M?

Hes done more than Taylor and james. Bourne had a better year last year but Bourne also had more opportunity and didnt make much of it not to mention Bournes been dropping passes. Taylor gets the benefit of the doubt cuz his connection with Jimmy G but Matthews has been making the most of his opportunities. James might make the roster now cuz of the Taylor injury tho. But i think Matthews makes it over Bourne i wanna see if we could tradr Bourne for like a day 3 pick.

These kinds of posts confuse me. What exactly has he done to show he is making the most of his opportunities?

He's played the slot and outside, only has one drop all of pre season (beat writer tally FWTW) and continues to catch everything (3rd down catch against Dallas and this big catch yesterday for the "game winner."). He's just a consistent and reliable veteran who has gained good chemistry with Jimmy and Nick. Is he anything spectacular? Nope. But can Kyle/JG count on him? Yup.

So far...
Thanks for that. The man is still only 26 years old he just needs to keep doing what hes doing and keep being reliable.

With Taylor's injury it REALLY opens the door for him to start in the slot and JG likes that catching radius. But then what happens when Taylor is cleared? No way Kyle keeps 6 active WR's while running 21 personnel all day every day.

Umm, our highest paid player behind Jimmy is not Jet, and then Juice, it goes like this

Garoppolo $27.5M APY
Ford $17M APY
Staley $14M APY
Kwon $13.5M APY
Richburg $9.5M APY
Sherman $9.05M APY
Bosa $8.837M APY
McKinnon $7.5M APY
Thomas $7.038M APY
Tartt $6.5M APY
Goodwin $6.283M APY
Tomlinson $5.5M APY
Juice $5.25M APY
Gould $4.75M APY
McGlinchey $4.585M APY
Buckner $4.547M APY
Ward $4.5M APY
Tevin $4.25M APY
Verrett $3M APY

BTW Matthews hasn't done jack the past 2 years, he isn't GTD a spot.

Matthews has been injured the past two seasons and has played with crap at QB. New offense, new QB, new beginning. Not sure what all the hate is about. If anything Matthews seems to be building some kind of chemistry with Garoppolo, was targeted 5 times last week Thursday at practice and caught a deep pass from JG yesterday or was it friday? Bourne drops two good passes vs. Dallas and everyone is mum about that.

Or a trade for a good C/G back-up

I'll admit that I was vocal and adamant that Matthews would never make the team. Reading what little I can get about camp, though, it's always "Matthews caught 1 pass for a FD. Matthew caught 1 pass for a TD in redzone drills." And so on. Just 1 pass, nothing fancy. He's given no reason in camp that I've read about to deserve to be cut.

Theyll probably ease Taylor back in especially if Matthews is doing good during the first few games. It's not a bad problem to have everyone will get their reps. It all depends how Matthews does when the season starts though if hes ineffective he might get cut but i think he'll do good n Jimmy will lean on him. We have a young receiving core too Matthews has experience the youngsters can learn a thing or 2 from him.

Playoff experience too this was his last game played to those saying he aint did nuthin in 2 years this a primetime game against a good defense.
I really hope this guy makes the team over Kendrick Bourne and Ritchie James. He is a red zone monster and he always has been. That is worth more than the other two receivers

I want James on the team, dude always seems to make plays all TC and even after the drop in the Cowboys game. If Bourne gets cut oh well, I need to see him make plays in the actual games
