Better have a bunch of playing time/injury clauses. If those are in the contract he is easily worth 8 mil per year

i am glad they said they want to sign him before free agency but with these guys.. as well as anyone........ i will go by what they do and not what they say
I wonder what RW Mcquarters is up to? Could probably sign on the cheap.

I'm betting Verrett plays less than 7 games for whichever team signs him in free agency before they cut him.
Lets hope it's not the Niners.

Only way I pay Verrett more than $6M a yr is if he has incentives that he HAS to achieve each year, he'll have per game RBs, and injury guarantees. I just don't see how some think he should get $10M+ a yr. And no way the 49ers give that to Verrett, they gave Sherman $9.05M base, it would have been $13.05M a yr if he could have achieved all $4M incentives each year.

2 years $12 Million is my prediction. I think people are overestimating his value on the open market. He has health concerns that will probally scare teams off from offering alot. Especially with the cap dropping. If The Niners offer a 2 year deal worth $6 Million per year, I think he takes it.

I concur. Needs to be structured that way so I hope he doesn't go to a more desperate team with a better offer

I believe there's more CB who will be out there on the market without the lengthy injury history. Verrett has only had 2 healthy seasons since he got drafted so I don't believe anyone will throw a big contract for him. As AB said, give him an structure with minimum cap hit for 2021 and incentives driven.

During his career, Verrett has played in 39 of his teams 96 regular season games (meaning he plays 40% of the time). If there were no injury concerns, he would probably command around 13M per year. 40% of 13m is $5.2m annually. Lets' give him a bit of an increase because he is coming off a healthy season...6.5 to 7m is the absolute top of his market IMO.
Um don't matter. He's a corner back. He turns for the ball. Sign heeeeem. 4 5 6 plus incentives. 3 yr 9m guarantee.doo it.

JV has turned in exactly one good season, and you want to break open the bank for this guy. What about the four other seasons where he couldn't stay on the field? Or played so horribly that the Chargers CUT THE GUY.

And you want to pay him big 💰 💰 💰? Back up the Brinks 🛻?

I'll take a pass on this one. If JV wants a big payday, let him earn one with three solid, dependable seasons. Not one.

Lol what? This is almost as bad as your take on Trent Williams. JV was never cut by the Chargers. He never played bad (other than with us Vs the Steelers) he was just injured. No one has said to break the bank. When Verrett is healthy he is a top 10 CB in the league and that is why people want him back but no one is saying it's not a gamble and absolutely no one is saying to pay him a huge contract.
