Looking back at the draft 2 years ago I was so pumped up about the draft lynch and Shanahan put together. We trade down one pick with the bears and pick up a extra 3rd was terrific. Getting Solomon Thomas (not a sexy pick but he was highly valued). Then rueben foster was possibly the best pick in the first round. And later on adding Weatherspoon and beathard. Then Joe Williams. Trent Taylor. Looking at the draft just a few years back. This has to be possibly the worst draft that year. Notice I didn't mention kittle cuz he was obviously a beast but look at literally every pick we made is either off the team (foster, Williams and beathard and Taylor will be lucky if they make the roster next year) or is on the verge on being considered a bust (Thomas and Weatherspoon). And the other guys like colbert had a huge drop after a pretty good rookie year. So my question to you guys is anybody worried that last year's draft will follow in the footsteps of the previous draft??Remember most of the guys like foster and Weatherspoon and Taylor had great rookie years and bright futures ahead. But then the sophomore year was absolutely horrendous for the draft class. Even though our rookies showed promise I'm still kind of worried if they will continue to grow or if they will take a giant step backwards like the 2017 draft. Anyone else with me?

Sometimes you just have to wither the storm.

there really isn't a chance for the 2018 class to come back down to earth like the 2017 class did. It's not like they blew the roof off with their play.
McGlinchey was good, but his runblocking overinflates his value. We'll see how he pass protects for Garrapolo. I'm sure if he allows some sacks, the WZ will come down hard on him.
Pettis is getting better, but hes also nothing special now.
Warner was just okay.
Peoples expectations for these guys will be lukewarm. If they even improve a little bit, it will look like a plus. Compare that to the hype Reuben Foster got or Adrian Colbert. We thought they were all pros.

Sophomore slump followed by a Junior jump . I'm just hoping for Solly and Spoon to pull through and be good players and make that draft class respectable. Still holding out hope for Colbert, and DJJones is now free to earn snaps. Taylor can be a matchup dependent type of player, useful in certain situations.

Provided they work on their Elementary Evaluation first.

McG was great, Pettis and Warner are definitely promising.
No one thought Foster or Colbert we're all pros ... yet.
for your constant unwarranted negativity.

stop.. you seemed to kind of forget people running around breathlessly saying foster is willis part two,. the team blew two first round picks. what happend with foster is proof, despite many red flags about him.. thomas looks like a mid tier guy. ae won four games. we pick second. there is much negativity and concern that is warranted.

Lol sophmore slump. They had no talent for there to be a slump.
The only picks i liked was kittle and foster. Everything else was pure garbage.
Taylor has exceeded my expectations and i hope he does well next year.

I can't fault the front office because the 2017 draft ended up really bad. At the time most draft gurus and most fans thought it was great. The fact that it ended up so badly doesn't make John and Kyle idiots. It's just the NFL. You win some and lose some. They might hit on every pick this year which doesn't mean they got smarter. It just means the were lucky. Every GM has a team of scouts that know football better than any of us. They make their picks based on the scouts, film and personal workouts and then they hope they got it right. No NFL team has got every draft right. Most have had more bad drafts than good.

It's a valid concern for any team. I believe Walsh expected his coaches to tell him what a player can contribute each year. Ideally, they contribute more with more experience.
I think the 2018 mostly played well for rookies. I do think they (and the coaches) have a lot of work to do for their next season.
