Are you sold on Jimmy G to be our starter for next 10 years?

We need a serious professional at DC or it won't matter who our QB is. Right now saleh's inexperience has not just hurt the D, but also the O. And his learning curve seems a lot slower than one would like to see. So whether it's Nick or JG, or whoever, we have to vastly improve in not just D t talent but esp at DC, if we want to see how good or QBs are.

Get us that talented DC and THEN one can answer the question as to who our starter will be the next 10 yrs. Like others, i think JG wins this handily, but question is, will he hold up physically?

Mullens will be our starter next year because Jimmy G will be hurt by week 4 or 5.
200 votes and over 50% of us are not sold on Jimmy being the starter for 10 years.

Yikes.

Must be fun going through life thinking like this

Lol 10 years, let's see if he can last 10 games.

Exactly, I like JG is a very good qb and truly hope he is the long-term answer but the 48% who think they've seen enough of him after a handful of games to believe he's the answer for the next 10 years are really overdosing on the kool aid. As we all know, the injury bug has ripped through the team this year including JG who blew his knee out on a non-contact "misstep" while running so he and the rest of his team mates need to improve their durability and prove that they can stay consistently healthy in order to employ and get comfortable with KS's system. JG's injury literally set him back a year if not more in terms of incorporating himself into the offense. I hope to god that the s/c coaches are all fired the day after the season ends as that will go a long way in solving the tissue paper player problem the team currently has.

Can't blame us, really. Sample size is minuscule and he blew out a knee 3 weeks into the season on a non-contact injury. This is the first time in his career that his body has to hold up for an entire season as a starter and he's just not there yet so he has a lot of work to do in order to improve his durability if he has any chance of lasting with the 49ers. So far, he and a ton of other players have proven to be made of tissue paper and I place much of that blame on the s/c staff who should all be fired in 1 week.

Completely agree from what I've seen here & with the Pats. You add in the everyday studying & tutelage under Brady & Belichick, along with him continuing to work with Shanahan & master the playbook and I have no doubt he's only going to get better & better in leading this team to many years of success - at least over the next 10 years & hopefully more.

I agree with most of you said other than "over the next 10 years..." because your comment says nothing about whether or not he'll ever be durable enough to last an entire season as a starter which is the biggest question with him right now. I think we all believe he has the talent and arm strength to succeed and that absorbing the game behind Brady and under Beliheat did him wonders but he still has to prove that he can last a full season and that a strong wind won't blow his knee out. He has 4 years left under Shanalynch's contracts to prove that he can stay healthy otherwise I don't know that he will last much longer in SF.

Whilst I agree 10 years is a long time and a lot could happen, just look around the league, there's a reason Tannehill is still in Miami, why the Giants cradle onto Eli, why Dalton gets endless chances, why journeyman get paid so much.

It's really hard to find a franchise guy at QB, if you think you have one you keep working with them until proven otherwise, and it takes a long time.

I'm willing to bet Jameis gets another contract as well, it's a big deal to move on without a replacement in the building.

I think Jimmy plays out his contract, then the 49ers go with Mullens going forward.
With Jimmy we would've won this game as well. What is that 10 wins by now....easy? Damn next year's gonna be good
Lets keep on improving the O line to protect Jimmy or whoever.

This. The blocking has to improve so Jimmy can survive a season let alone 10 years.

Totally agree.

Wars are still won in the trenches.
Ask again next season
