IMO, Kyle is insecure and only wants certain personality types on his team. He's afraid of losing control of the locker room, because of players with strong personalities. I don't mean strong as in disruptive, I just mean guys that might demand respect. That's why I think he got rid of Harold, Reid and wouldnt bring in Kap even if that mean fielding a team without a qb. Personally, I feel like he even took a jab at Kap today.

What worries me more is the fact that we're not finding more undrafted talent for the defense. I think that goes to coaching and player development. Good coaches can develop talent in the players they coach. Solomon hasn't developed as expected, and neither has Pita. There's a lot of variables that go into coaching, but I think the biggest is inexperience.
generally speaking, you get scheme fits for offense, and talent for defense. But guess what, our defense f**king sucks even with a bunch of 1st and 2nd round picks. And a lot of those guys that they decided to keep around anyway like Ward, Armstead, Tartt, so the Baalke excuses don't really work either.
Nowhere else to point your fingers at besides Saleh, pretty much. The tackling and execution needs to get better, otherwise he should be let go. I'm okay with switching to another scheme.

49ers have talent on defense, they just need to add one or two more key players. The problem or question has always been with Saleh.

Are you going to run outside press man with a 5'9" 185 pound CB? Zone blocking with a 350 pound guard? Vertical passing offense with a QB with a slightly below average arm?
You obviously want good players but you want players who are fully compatible with what you want them to do also.

Well put. Well other than the cornerback part. Cause you know Jaire Alexander can play anywhere anytime.
Saleh's a newbie DC, so he's an obvious target as to why the defense isn't doing well. Not defending him, but injuries didn't help. When your offense can't ball control it hurts the defense.Originally posted by Ensatsu:generally speaking, you get scheme fits for offense, and talent for defense. What I will say is that I'm disappointed in the fact that Saleh doesn't seem to have that knack that a good defensive coach has in finding and developing players. Fangio found and developed Bowman, Aldon Smith, and Ian Williams and Demarcus Dobbs. I haven't really seen Saleh do much on that aspect of the defense. I think a big part of it is inexperience.

I wouldn't put it on the DC per se to be the guy who develops the talent. He's supposed to game plan and figure out the best way to use that talent and put them in a position to get the most out of them I'd say the position coaches are more critical to a player's development. Tomsula should be credited with developing a ton of guys. Saleh being young and inexperienced probably hasn't surrounded himself with a top staff of position coaches to help develop guys. At the same token we do have to give him some time. Bowman and Aldon were just special players. I think those two and Willis would have been successful anywhere. But I get your point. And it's on Kyle to really lock in and see who is and isn't developing and root out the players and coaches who are doing a poor job. Again I wonder how much control does Saleh have. It's been reported that with the Rams McVay is pretty much hands off of the defense. I'm wondering if Kyle is that hands off? If so that means we are letting Saleh make too many important decisions. And that could be causing some of his failure. If that's the case nobody to blame for that but Kyle and Lynch
