Only 1 guy on that list played anywhere close to a full season last year and we could possibly only have 3 of the 9 on our team by next off-season.

Our 2007 draft class was awesome. We got Willis, Staley, Ray Mac, T. Brown and Goldson all in that one draft. 5 starters out of one draft on a SB team.

2012:
Bruce Irvin
Bobby Wagner
Russel Wilson
Robert Turbin
Jeremy Lane
That's why the Seahawks stayed competitive for so long. They nabbed 13 starters for them in 3 consecutive drafts.
We had another great draft in 2011 but then bombed in 2012-16 were awful. Right now, only 2 players from those drafts combined are slated as starters. Think about that.....TWO....out of like 40 players drafted. If J. Garnett takes over a starting spot we'll get 3.....
I'm salty over how bad Baalke was at drafting....like, in retrospect.....it was terrible. He had 2 decent drafts, 1 really good one and then 5 horrid drafts in a row.
Competitive teams are built or scuttled in the draft.

Those are the only ones if you're looking at 2008-18. If you go 2007-17 then you have to add 2 more....So it's either 4 or 6...not five

It's for 2007-2016 (that's 10 years; 2007-2017 is 11 years).
But, yes, it should be 5 for SF (Davis did not make the PB).

Iupati, Aldon, and AJ Jenkins. Wait, not the last one, but Iupati and Aldon for sure. Willis was same draft as Staley so he's the last one

This list only further proves my point, which is, we've had really bad luck drafting and its made me a little salty. Moreover, the number of pro bowlers drops to zero if we only take the most recent 5 drafts, as we should. Clearly the 10 year span favors whatever argument Phoenix is putting forth. But, I ask you this. Would you choose any of those guys on the list if you got to draft again? I'm pretty sure the answer is no.

I stand corrected. I could have sworn Davis made it. Didn't he make the all-pro list at least 2nd team once?

It's far too early to include Thomas on that list...I think he'll be fine. Foster was a risk...he played very well, but has screwed the pooch this off-season. All the others were drafted by Baalke. Overall, aside from the protests, Reid was a good draft pick. As for many of Seattles picks, most have come and gone. No doubt Carroll & Schneider out-drafted Baalke on a regular basis. That's all changed now. As Brock said, the draft is definitely a crap shoot...even teams who supposedly get (ridiculous) "A" grades don't get the kind of production many think they should. That's part of the problem...over-hyped players coming out of college. The media promotes a lot of that...and a lot of fans get way too caught up in mocks. I've barely looked at them this off-season, just because while some are interesting, most are an even bigger crap shoot. I look for Lynch to have another excellent draft...he & Coach are very much in synch, so that's half the battle. Now it's just about making a deal if there's one worth making and picking players who fit what Shanahan's building...high character guys who can flat out play.

Kind of stunning, when you think about it. But look at our HCs, our GM, and well, what would you expect from that crew? We were not well led going back 5-6 yrs. Sure we knew at HC, having 4 in a row, bang bang bang. But the GM didnt help us either. Point fingers and it was at the very top. Jed et familiae. They picked bad/poor leaders, the leaders should be not be expected to pick stellar players. Average is as average does.
I guess when you look back, it is amazing we had 5 or 6 all pros. The fact only Joe S remains...well there you are. Overall the draft last yr was stellar tho aside from the Reuben fiasco, we really didn't have any truly amazing 1st yr players. We certainly had some players who will be under consideration, however, depending on how this yr plays out for them. Two DBs which with good yrs this yr will give them some creds for all pro consideration. Spoon was probably the biggest surprise. I had thot otherwise. Solomon...just give him time. Those that say no....just wait. Our 7th rd CB/S was another surprise.
Add in some FAs and one has to like the WR talent...TE remains to be seen. Our guys fanned on FA And draft OL...their one disappointment,, and one reason i felt we had to have two OGs this draft. Still could happen, one in rd 3 other in rd 6-7. RBs we did fine. DL we did well, but obviously still missing our ER. Maybe this yr.

It's too early to judge Solomon Thomas. It is said that it takes three years before you really know what you have in a D-line player.

I still contend our last draft was a decent one. The jury is out on Thomas (figuratively) and Foster (literally). Let's not get ahead of ourselves.
Witherspoon in the third, Kittle and Taylor in the fifth, and Colbert in the seventh were all gems.
Beathard is going to be a solid backup this year. I feel great about our QB situation.
But yes, we have had s**tty drafts for a number of years. That's why we were 1-10 before getting really damn lucky w/JG.

Good post. Unfortunately, Baalke put together some horrendous drafts as you mentioned. It's a shame as he was good at accumulating draft picks but ended up bombing on too many of those.
You are right - you have to draft well and sometimes it just takes one or two home run drafts to set up a team for a Super Bowl run or two. As for the Seahawks, yes, they hit it big with those drafts you referenced; however, the good news for us is they've bombed their last drafts from 2013 - 2017 (FIVE consecutive drafts). And, look at their team now...still pretty good as they have a playmaking QB and some good pieces remaining on D but their poor recent drafts have caught up to them.
Going forward, I definitely am optimistic about Solomon Thomas after what I saw last year. For Reuben, well, I'm holding out hope that he's not guilty of the DV charge but definitely not counting on him - if he's available going forward, it's almost a bonus at this point IMO. I think Lynch, Shanahan, Peters, and Co. are off to a great start in drafting well and putting together a team to fit exactly what they want to accomplish on offense, defense, & ST. Really looking forward to the draft next week and seeing what they do in continuing to build out this team.
