49ers Secondary

Absolutely zero playmakers at the Safety position. They really get exposed when going against good teams like the Rams today. It's really been a head scratcher because the S position is one Lynch knows as well as anyone.

Been saying this for a while. Brown should be cut. And if Mustapha is going to play, he must be paired with a true center-fielder.

This was obvious in the offseason, and they addressed it by drafting another guy that can't cover

Id rather try to teach sigle how to cover than keep starting brown who offers zero upside in anything. at least sigle can tackle

Tough call. Sigle basically got targeted so much they had to do something. The real issue is the people doing the drafting

Said this s**t in the off season. This secondary is one of the worst.

I think sigle could be a good player but had to play him too early. I rather throw him back there than see brown.

And we have a HOF safety as a GM that does nothing to fix this.

We had an all pro safety but we let him go because we have brown and an injured mustapha waiting to take over the position. He's playing out if his mind right now.

The problem is we had a logjam of box safeties. While losing Huf sucked, it wasn't as big a problem as the refusal to get a true FS. They drafted another box type.

Logjam of mediocre safeties so we gave up the only playmaker we got back there. The problem is we love giving away all pro talents(buck, huf) thinking we can just draft another one.

Lynch chose to build the defense from day one around the defensive line. The philosophy was to let the pass rush get home without blitzing and covering with 7. It works when you have pass rush. The warts show when that's not happening. The injuries and quite honestly one of the worst 49er secondaries of all time (talent wise) have resulted in the horrible play thus far. Renardo Green is probably one of the worst 10 corners in the game and it's not debatable. He stays away from contact in the run game and has multiple lapses in coverage every Sunday. It's sad that he even sees the field. Upton Stout is nothing more than a depth piece being forced to start. Lenoir is way overpaid and is no where near the player we are paying him to be. Brown is also one of the worst 5 safeties in the game. No need to even explain him. Sigle got abused so bad Brown has taken his spot.

The worst unit out there today.

We've been hoping since before the season started to get a veteran (true) FS out here, a ball hawk... staff couldn't be blind to this
