Of note is the paucity of OGs and OG/Cs interviewed, unless they already have their man. Or it could just as well mean they are satisfied between GArnettt, Cooper, and Laken they have 2 guys who can pass protect. Frankly i don't think so, but that must be in their calculus or we would most likely have seen more OGs. A third possibility is they saw Hernandez, Breiden, Wynn, and shucks forgot one...but from that group rated in the 20- 29 group, may be there were only a couple that moved really well, one of Kyle's preferences. In other words, even tho rated highly kyle only liked a couple of them. Could be.

The one and only plaece our guys made less than desirable picks were Reuben and joe Williams. For 10 or 11 picks whatever it was, they did a bang up job. I would really love to know what their red flags are this yr and how they decided how to not have the same thing happen with 2 picks this yr. Like i have posted before, i would have made the Reuben pick also....foolish, but count me in.
On the Williams pick, i didn't really know the candidate so couldn't comment. The Reuben thing... i got sucked in also.

I think that looks good.

From the 5th round on to later, I think would be another 1 or 2 more offensive players. Maybe a TE or RB. Seems about right by positions from 1-4

ILB in the 2nd or 3rd

I think it goes like this, 1st-ER, 2nd-CB, 3rd-ILB

I'm with you. ER then either LB or CB (whichever is best for their respective positions).

I got OL before CB. CB is my #4 need.

Oh yeah...I've got a grocery-long list for UDFA's of specific offensive players who'll compete! Thanks for the review and feedback.

I could certainly see a G/C going up much higher!

As much as I love undrafted stories making the team, I think Kyle said in an interview it will be harder for undrafteds to make it onto the team this year. They really have to clearly beat out the guys they already have. I think that's great news that our team is getting to the level of playoff talent for this upcomming year.

Yup and that's a great thing! I have a great pool of UDFA's and I'd be surprised if even a couple made it this year.

Hence the incredibly wise choice of smokes above , taking OL before CB.

it's sucks to see someone else wear 53. Just isn't right. At least don't issue it for a few years.
Some info on Korey Toomer.

We'll have plenty of time to learn more about the depth chart, but for now, I'm curious about Toomer. He has been primarily a reserve, although injuries helped him get some starting nods the past two seasons. But even in mostly reserve duty, he did some solid work. According to Pro Football Focus (via David Lombardi), in 2016, he posted the best run stop rate among inside linebackers with at least 150 snaps (he had 177 snaps). His run stop rate dropped in 2017, but he still ranked in the top ten. In 2017, he had 95 pass coverage opportunities, and he ranked 11th in yards per cover snap among inside linebackers with at least 50 snaps in pass coverage.

These are small sample sizes, but they show some level of success. He originally entered the NFL as a fifth round pick of the Seattle Seahawks in the 2012 NFL Draft. He was there during part of Robert Saleh's stint. Toomer eventually joined the Los Angeles Chargers in 2017. The Chargers' defensive coordinator this past year was Gus Bradley, who employs a similar defensive philosophy as that of the 49ers.

Hey NC, posted this in McKinnon's thread.

Yeah, basically his 2019 salary($4M) is less than 50% of his 2018 salary($10M), doesn't include prorated bonuses, so that $6M difference gets treated as a signing bonus, and prorates over the 4yrs at $1.5M a yr, but the deal remains the same the way he was getting paid, the $6M bonus is just for cap purposes. Not additional money given to him.

Also Toomer's deal is 1yr, $880K, with $90K Signing Bonus, $720K cap number as it's a veteran minimum salary benefit deal.

I guess you can look at the McKinnon's difference in cap numbers $10.5M originally, to now $6M, that $4.5M was(or most) used on a pay raise for Joe Staley. No info on him, probably Monday.

PK(1): Robbie Gould(2018)
P(1): Bradley Pinion(2018)
LS(1): Kyle Nelson(2018)

Spots like Mabin's, McCoil's, Hikutini's are up for discussion. In a perfect world we'd draft a S and 2 CBs, but I hate projecting trades.

But if we did manage to pull off a deal that netted us two mid round picks, maybe a 4th and a 5th, I'd say for 3rd- CB Kevin Toliver II, LSU, and 5th- S Trayvon Henderson, Hawaii, so both would take Mabin and McCoil's roster spots. And honestly, I think the above roster, plus these 2 make this team ready to compete in 2018.

Suspended: LB Reuben Foster(2020)

Inactives:

1. RB Joe Willliams
2. TE Cole Hikutini
3. OG Austin Corbett
4. OG Laken Tomlinson
5. OT Alex Cappa
6. NT DJ Jones
7. SAM Pita Taumoepenu
