i think the exact words.. god forbid we put words in peoples mouths....... hoyer is the perfect fit for shannys offense and he will get us to cousins. its like before the colts game when they were breathlessly predicting a win and how we would abuse them etc etc.,. then we lose a terrible game and it turns into ,,,,, well its hard to win on the road and at least we did not get blown out.

Hoyer??

Our week 7 starter suggests Hoyer isn't the QB he "wants".

...just used to install the full playbook for the other 10. I'm not sure why this is so hard to grasp for some.

Here's another reason you sign Hoyer

Hoyer's scheme fit and familiarity coupled with his production his last 16 starts made him a viable option this past off season. He wasn't the future he was a guy that knew Kyle's system and could help the other QBs in the room. If he would have played like he did the last couple of season (90ish Qb rating) then you could've bought yourself a season. He did not play at that level and is now being replaced.

The benefit of having a guy like Hoyer is he's a professional and will now take the role as almost a mentor to C.J. to help the rookie in his development. This is actually a smart way to attack the QB position imo. If C.J. looks good these last 10 games it lets you explore other needs. If he struggles, then you feel comfortable with the sample size an address the QB in '18 via FA or the Draft.

lul, what a cuck.

Reading through this thread is giving me the strangest sense of Deja vu. Regardless of what my opinion is on the status of the rebuild, I'm fairly mystified by the handful of people in here who have been so staggeringly wrong about everything over the last 3 years, criticizing the thought process of people who have been far more correct over that time period.Anyone can look endlessly for silver linings, and rationalize away decisions, but at the end of the day outcomes are outcomes. Just remember the same type of logic that is being applied towards Lynch right now 18 months ago was being used by many of the same people in this thread to say that Baalke was a top 5 GM.

Yeah this team has improved since last season, the point differential seems to tell that story as well as the eye test. However, given the fact that this team was essentially a blank slate with nowhere to go but up and sitting on a hoard of cap space, is this really the improvement we were looking for? I'm fine with where we are, but that doesn't mean Lynch has done an A+ job so far. Given everything we've seen over the past 3 years, I'm still shocked that it seems like some people have learned absolutely nothing.

You clearly are not a nuanced football fan like the other posters on this board.

If you were you would understand that losses are better than wins. Baalke is a great GM. Tomsula is a great HC. Jed is the best owner. Arik Armstead is a futre HOFer. Jim Harbaugh is one of the worst football coaches ever. Kyle is the next Bill Walsh. And this team is basically a SB contender if not for a few bad calls by the refs and some young player mistakes.

But it really hinges on the losses > wins part. Once you understand that losing is actually good you will start to become a truly nuanced football fan.

I think hoyer failing so quickly and shanny dumping him after 5 games is a huge red flag on shanny's ability to evaluate and pick the right qb.
So far (6 games in), actually worst then Tomsula/Chip and Baalke.

I think the next 10 games of CJ will shine a better light on his ability to evaluate and pick the right qb. Shanny got to pick any QB he wanted in that draft (reportedly). He wasn't able to choose any qb in the NFL....

This is so true, not to mention the fact that he doesn't seem so interested in anything other than offense. It will take him time to grow as a head coach, he is a very emotional head coach.

basically we spent money on people like smith and hoyer .,not to have them come in and play but to be teachers and coaches.. that is what our team is now reduced to. i thought that is what the coaches were there for. seems like when a guy does not work., to provide cover for signing him in the first place, the theme is.. well he is a great teacher mentor coach etc etc

sure did sign him quickly.. that tells me that shanny was set on him from day one, we were told he was the perfect fit for shannys offense. would provide stability that we had not seen since alex and provide a smooth transition to cousins

The scary part is it seems like we are drafting and signing guys based on relationships instead of ability. See Lynch/Solomon Thomas or Kyle/Hoyer.

By the way, how has our offensive weapon panned out so far? huge contract for a fullback!
guys.. its B

do not get me started on that.. again you would think you have a plan to use a guy BEFORE you sign him.
