We're literally just bringing in injured players now and instantly putting them on I.R.
Yeah this is fkn circus at this point. 49ers the NFL's welfare program
Skipping the foreplay and getting straight to the payouts.
They have signed two players to the practice squad that never practiced and ended up on IR in less than 48 hours each. Who is checking into these guys before signing.
Isn't the bringing the guy onto the PS the checking? If they were bringing these guys directly to the active roster I'd be upset over it, but the PS is peanuts to kick the tires on a player. If he deflates no biggie - you IR him and give him another shot in the offseason.
You don't sign guys and pay them to any part of the squad that can't be helpful either in practice or on game day. You do not here this from other teams.

Injuries aren't always bad. Still I hate any of our guys getting injured at all, but this is a bit of a positive on the injury side.
https://www.49erswebzone.com/articles/153192-shanahan-praises-49ers-emerging-stars-elijah-mitchell-jennings/
I think Jennings will play a big factor in this Sundays Seattle game.
By that time, Sanu had already asserted himself as one of the 49ers' most reliable and consistent receivers in Shanahan's eyes. That pushed Jennings down the depth chart. Then a knee injury landed Sanu on injured reserve on November 15.
"And then [Jennings] got the opportunity when [Sanu] went down," Shanahan continued, "and he's taken advantage of it, and he's getting better each week. And hopefully, that will continue."

Sounds like I.R. to me. And Jeff Wilson ran one time and his knee "flared up on him." Good Lord. Shut him down like Greenlaw on the repeat issues.

On that one 10 yard run that got called back. Talk about adding insult to injury. Wow.

Yup. Big time. Sucks because he looked explosive there. Hasty comes up from I.R. finally and Mitchell and Wilson instantly go down. Classic.

Still don't believe there's a Levi's Stadium curse over this teams head?
Since we left Candlestick this team has been riddled with significant injuries to key players
Team is cursed!!!

Let's be honest. There's a Levi's and Lumen curse for the 49ers.

We've been buried in moneyball, big time, for at least 8 yrs and probably some more. Identifying it and putting a name on it, kudos to you NC. It is not a figment of our our collective imagination. We have been unburying ourselves from this mess, just less than a yr now but the Dee Fords, the DB class as a whole, OLs, the now gone WRs…it happens but not overnite. So once we finally wash the Dee mistake out, and i recently am wondering about offering a generous buyout that is less than the cap hit, instead of gutting it out and saying the beads that finally…this yr he emerges. We'll see on that score.
we won't be clear of moneyball until Kin is either in/ or out re: health. If in, huge +. If out, the opposite. JG has been part of this nightmare but not sure exactly how he fits in moneyball wise.
our problem and quest now is to clean as much as we can off the books so we can start anew. One would hope no matter how good a deal paraag can make it, if not healthy, we just dont want him.
Looking at KC film of Dee, it really should have been obvious he was too good to be true. But that is in the retrospectoscope and when we signed him , man was i ever stoked. So as we "ease" away from signing high end players with physical damage, we are working toward emerging from the swamp. Sadly it has been 8 long yrs and our learning curve has been slow.
Now both KS and JL acknowledge , although not for public consumption that we cannot risk signing great talent when injured. The risk/reward ratio is really ALL risk. The downstream disaster of having the position filled …but not really…when added to cap issues…does get better. But until fixed, eg as in Dee's case, it has been a team wrecker. We are going in the right direction, but molasses heads down the tree…SLOWLY.
