if you add mostert/ mcglinchey to the O, and kinlaw/ verret to the D, I think the team really can compete with anyone.
they're all out for the year. So you either blame "general injury luck", or you blame lynch for relying on injury prone guys. I'm not actually sure what the answer is.

Very true. Verrett alone killed us. We easily win GB IND SEA if he's in. Probably the first Arizona game too

100% on the GM. This is the 5th off season and all of those players have an injury history including McGlinchey. But to your point, you can understand why those guys were acquired/retained.

Personally, if ShanaLynch is serious about Trey as QB 1 -- I'd just purge the roster of medically unsound players, trade down that 2nd pick and get a boatload of 3rd, 4th and 5th picks and re-build the team around Trey. If they are going to go all in on Trey, might as well go *all in* as in -- correctly build a good foundation around Trey and in two-ish years, if done properly, you'll have a deep team. I'm using the '86 draft as a model.

Which GM? I appears we have Lynch, Peters, Shanahan and Marathe all showing GSR.

Post of the week.
My point thruout…NOBODY knows WHO is responsible for our draft picks, trades, resignings, and FAs. We all know the 4 guys kyle jumped up for. Other than that, we DON'T know. It is not the F.O's responsibility to tell us a lick. but there are some players that it would be nice to know who was the final say. A memo stating that all picks / players are voted on by all 4 of the above, or at least 3 of them would be nice….we still don;t know who has made these choices, however. It seems fair we should know.
Officially, JL picks the 90, and Kyle the 45…but is that really the way it works? It would be nice to know.

Next game is on concrete covered by a Carpet.
They need to outlaw carpet covered concrete fields in the NFL.

Its probably a type of concensus process. If the Trey Lance pick is typical of how they rank their draft board, then its a concensus.
Having said that, John Lynch is techincally and contractually the one to pull those draft pick triggers, with a huge input from Kyle.
Personally I think its Kyle and Mike that have the power to pick. I don't have any evidence to back this up. However, the front office (other than Kyle) rely heavily on Mikes input. Kyle already said he listens to his dad. Pappa Mike usually visits the 49ers in person days before and during the draft. Mike also comes by around Christmas when (i think) something similar to NC's thread called "team needs" are being assembled by the front office for game planning the college scouting year. Just my opinon folks. Shoot Doc instead of me if you disagree. He asked the question, i just replied.

Well the old man has lost it. Was he ever a good talent evaluator?

I think Mike was one of the better RB evaluators and possibly one of the best at developing the OLine (along with Alex Gibbs). I never was fond of his QB picks though. Mike was a bit lucky that when he went to the Broncos from the 49ers, there was a Hall of Fame QB waiting for him and his WCO system. I think the difference between father and son was that Father played QB and Son played WR. They have a different perspective on all the players from their respective playing backgrounds, is what I understood whey they coached together on the WTF football team.

It was (in a sense) good news - neither player will be out for while. It's a (hopefully) a short term injury for both Deebo and Fred. Sermon will be out for a while, but it's not like Mostert, Kinlaw, McGlincy, or Verett's injury.
I'm just dreading that Seattle Field. I'm bracing myself for the worst come this Sunday.
