This is the primary reason as to why today's NFL is a bad product - too many injuries. Players are simply too big/fast/strong for their own good.

Unfortunately the league is trying to legislate the injuries away by passing more and more rules that prohibit contact. This doesn't really address the problem that you bring up. Many of the injuries happen with little of no contact. Players are bigger and faster but in many cases not in great shape. New NFL rules prohibit players from working out at team facilities or team sponsored events as much as they used to so they have to work out on their own.

Bingo!
Staley talked about it. He said you could callus up your body back in the day. Now there's so many rules and "science" behind all of it…yet sometimes you just gotta throw a bar on your back and do some deep squats lol.
another problem imo is these players can't do these hardcore workouts outside of camp either because if they get hurt, they don't get their gtd cash for injury.

The OP has all the historic ranks of AGL too but here you go. 2010 for reference as Harbaugh walked in the doors in 2011:
2010 - 4th
2011 - 8th
2012 - 1st
2013 - 23rd
2014 - 26th (2014-2020 31st on the aggregate average rank)
What I've found in this research is that it's common to have a down year but almost all teams bounce back the very next year.
What 9ers4eva is failing to note is that 2013 and 2014 the 9ers were one of the very oldest teams coming off extended seasons and extremely high snap counts (Fangio wasn't a big fan of heavy rotations).
The entire roster completely turned over over the span of a few months as a results of players retiring, as further evidence.
So there appears to be something with that old school (Singletary/Harbaugh) mentality but it'll eventually break players at the tail ends of their careers. That's one extreme.
Kyle's practices are extremely soft, light in quality/quantity and cautious and that extreme isn't working at all either.
The CBA has had an effect on both quality and quantity of getting game-ready as well. However, it simply sets the parameters. It's up to the individual coaches how they practice within those parameters and there are wide differences there.
Whatever you think the main source of the issue is (type of players targeted, offensive and defensive systems stress on players, S&C teams, practice styles, luck, stadium built on an Indian burial ground, all of the above, etc.), the fact of the matter is, we've been remarkably consistently piss poor for 7 straight years and now, 8 and counting.
That rules out "luck" for me.

There are already several guys out for the season. Not just the Niners. I heard Bulaga and someone else just went on the IR with back injuries. Last night we say that tackle from the Giants get carted off with a broken leg. The Cowboys and Ravens have both been hit really hard already. I know we've had a lot of injuries the last few seasons but so have a lot of other teams. Injuries are usually just a matter of being in the wrong position at the wrong time.

Here's how I look at injuries each season as a fan of the Niners & the NFL for many years:
-They're going to happen every season in this sport...just have to hope they don't take out for most/all of the season your QB1 & top playmakers on O & D like Kittle & Bosa
-You hope your team has amassed enough quality depth to overcome most of those injuries (tougher to do w/ the salary cap...thus, draft & UFA pick ups are so important)
-When they happen, hopefully it's earlier in the season and key guys aren't out for the majority of games
-You remember every team has injuries & it's kind of just the luck of the draw regarding which team gets hit hardest with injuries to its playmakers, how long they're out, etc.
As the season goes on, you just have to roll out each week the best team you have at the time and go to battle...if you have a good (or better) QB1 that can give you a chance in each game despite the injuries, you have to hope he stays healthy, rises to the challenge & makes plays to help put your team in position to win. QBs consistently showing this over the recent years - Brady, Brees, Rodgers, etc. - seem to always give their teams a chance in any game despite the smaller margin for error due to injuries.
Yes, the Niners have had up to this early part of the season injuries to some starters & key guys that are either season-ending or for many games. At this point, I'm just hoping it's nothing like last year. I've never seen a year like last year where so many key guys were lost for either the entire year or most of it.
On to the Eagles, and I like the Niners' chances with the talent they have available that will be out there battling for 60 minutes. It won't be easy. You can't go into any NFL game thinking that because you know, "on any given gameday." But give me the players that are healthy like Garoppolo, Kittle & T. Williams on O and Bosa, Warner & Ford on D and I'll look forward to seeing what this team can do this Sunday.

Good stuff especially the bold. What I found in this research, is, if you have a ton of injuries, the only chance of getting to the playoffs is if you have a veteran top QB.
But...you won't go far if you're over the AGL threshold.
The ONLY team that's actually made it to the Superbowl with a high volume of injuries was the 2019 San Francisco 49ers. Special.

Just the opposite....they are in a physhically immense shape, but as they gain tons of muscle mass, the ligaments stay as is.......Sooner or later, something has to give.
All people need to see is how the league was 30+ years ago when it wasn't all about lifting weights and the science behind the scenes......it's really night and day.
