Those CBs he's going against are terrible.
IDK but it sure seems Bourne looks like he is catching crisper, more cleanly. He did wear gloves last yr , correct? They somehow seem to work like ball magnets. His routes are crisp, but his snagging is really fine. I think those 36 targets last yr ( or thereabouts) are going to increase this yr.

3/4 of his receptions going for TDs (6) or 1st downs (22), meant that he caught either a TD or first down on 28 of 36 receptions. That works out to about 2.5 receptions/ game but thing is, when jimmy went to him, he was money. 3/4 of his receptions were for TD or 1st downs? That seems ridiculous. Yet it is true.

You know, this something that I was yelling at the TV all last season about. Then I reminded myself. What if Bourne isn't one of "Shanny's guys"? Let us remember, he was undrafted. It's very possible that he was a Lynch signing. After all, Lynch determines the 90 man roster and Shanny determines the 53. And thus far he has out played Taylor and Pettis. I think Bourne isn't a guy that Shanny really envisioned having to count on. But injuries, the bust of Pettis, and Bourne's stubborn work ethic and determination has made it extremely difficult for Shanny to part ways with him or even keep him off the field.

IMHO, Bourne really isn't really Shanny's ideal mold at WR. He's not a burner and don't run precise routes. But he is tough, keeps his head down and does his job, and Jimmy G. can trust him to be able to move the chains. I think this is more of an issue of Shanny just not wanting to scheme for Bourne in favor of guys he's drafted.

I can be totally wrong on this but it's what I think. After all, this could be the result of Shanny's scheme itself and Bourne is just fitting in accordingly. i just think that Shanny should draw play specifically for him.
I'm not sure you can say that he has out played Taylor. He has certainly been more available these past two seasons but Taylor has his own skill set that he brings to the team when he's healthy that would be a nice compliment to Bourne's.

The best ability is availability. KB deserves to get a LOT more targets this year. Dude is putting in the work, same as Jimmy is, to up his game to another level.

KB has definitely upped his game - he's carved out a nice little niche for himself.

Just playing Devil's advocate here but how do you know that Taylor isn't putting in the work as well, just because he isn't posting workout videos doesn't mean he isn't putting in as much time to get back and contribute as Bourne. I like Bourne but Taylor established himself as a valuable and reliable target in his rookie year while Bourne hardly ever saw the field. It took him two years and injuries to guys who probably would have been ahead of him to get the chance to play and show what he can do and even then he hasn't shown that he has fully moved beyond the occasional boneheaded play where he has forgotten what route he is supposed to be running. And for the record, I will say again that I like Bourne and think he has grown a lot as a receiver in the last couple of years. I just don't think you can make the argument that he has "outplayed" Taylor simply because he has been able to avoid injuries. They have different body types and skill sets. The one thing they do have in common is that each has displayed a talent for converting third downs. Again, Taylor proved that in his rookie year. It has taken Bourne a little longer but if Taylor is able to come back healthy this year they should complement each other really well in terms of what they each bring to the team.

KB coming a long way from that goofy UDFA in 2017
Maybe its all the video he post, but does any of the other receivers work as hard as KB? I was down on him after some of those drops but the kid has redeemed himself.
I mean if everyone thinks Jimmy G can be our franchise Qb, why can't KB? hes shown flashes of #1 WR.

Lol hey man I'll take any sort of football/practice right about now
After Kyle verbally kicked his ass, this kid really has grown up a lot. Proud of him.

The hype is getting unreal. Slow down. Before Samuels got injured, I was betting that Bourne wasn't even going to be on the roster come opening day. Now I believe that they have to keep him as insurance.

Irrespective, I don't believe that he'll be a starter. Even with the lack of experience on the squad.

Yeah he "outplayed" Taylor. Taylor didn't even play. He outplayed that rock on the sidelines too. A healthy Taylor is leaps and bounds better than Bourne.

Sure he outworks everyone else. Has to. He seems like a fun-loving kid who has benefitted from Shanahan's schemes. Doesn't detract from the fact that the team is in trouble if he's their starter.
KB is so underrated. I was watching Jimmy's 2019 highlights on YouTube and every red zone pass I just kept hearing " Touchdown Bourne". And he only turns 25 in August. I think his best years have yet to come.
