There's an article that'll I'll dig up that states a direct quote from Jon gruden saying he hired Kyle because of mike. And Kyle actually responds with it being the truth.

Kyle might have got his NFL foot in the door because of his dad. He's a head coach because he earned it. The two are very different.

Outside of one bad year in Cleveland where the talent pool was poor on offense (Josh Gordon only played 5 games that year), I'd say Kyle has done just fine without pops.
