Video recap by Cohn. He's a little uncomfortable on his personal camera.
Said Hoyer reminds him of a better version of Alex Smith. Said Alex Smith is a good QB but Hoyer looks slightly better. Totally liking Hoyer fitting in Kyle's system.
Beathard taking 2:1 snaps with 2nd team over Barkley and performing better than Barkley.
Good details on today's practice. 48 minute video.
I also watched the whole thing and even though I think he's basically a douche with specific agendas he continues to perpetrate against players he doesn't like (or rather players at the same position as guys he's completely sucking off), there were a few valuable points made. Most sensible thing he said is if CJB wins #2 spot over Barkley just keep two QBs because what's the point of keeping MB if he wasn't good enough to claim backup QB job over a rookie. I don't know Shanahan's pattern of how many he keeps on 53, well actually he's never decided that as an OC so he could keep two or three QB's depending on whatever. Before TC started most people thought Barkley would've just been the decent veteran backup with CJ developmental, but it appears his development in Shanahan's offense is ahead of schedule. (Funny thing about this is Cohn earlier in some of his reports was talking as though Barkley would actually end up becoming the starter over Hoyer. Now he's convinced CJB will be named #2 before end of preseason, thus making Barkley expendable. Which only further illustrates he continues to be wrong about almost everything.)
Cohn will be doing this at 1 pm after every practice from now on. As for the bold, not sure you can hold something against somebody for making a prediction when nothing has been seen on the field yet. Now, he has seen them practice and play and adjusted his evaluation. Nobody is trying to be Nostradamus. Not trying to defend Cohn but it annoys me when fans get their feelings hurt. To me, "completely sucking off" means he simply thinks that is the better player and that player has shown, to him in his eyes, that he is the better player and Cohn is not going to sugar coat whether or not the backup's job is in jeopardy.
Interesting note, he thought Williams is by far better than Breida but thinks Kyle has Breida at #2 in order to push Williams to keep that fire. To me, that's a concern for Williams in the long run in terms of his motivation.
I won't be surprised if Aaron Lynch gets cut. He was doing the same drill on the hill as Buckner and Lynch ended up quitting when the coach tried to get him to do it correctly. Lynch replying with an "eff this" and walked away.
