I can't recommend this column enough, Peter King is perhaps the best sportswriter in America.

Something also tells me that the draft room this year was more excited at the end of the first round than they were in 2012 when Baalke told everyone to eff off. He was picking AJ Jenkins no matter what.

What a great article to read displaying the confidence in our front office. Something we have been missing too long. Only time will tell about the players but Lynch/Shanny and even PM have shown they are very good at working together. It's amazing what happens when you remove the cancer in an organization. I can't wait for the season to start.

Yup, they are being honest. Lynch's story about Joe Williams really hit the mark, and I'm surprised that Williams was upfront about it too. Then again you are about to get paid so you better be honest with your employer.

Lynch said a few days ago that as a player the number one thing he respected was management being honest with him...looks like he's taking that same approach.

Not going to lie. I think I rather Basham than that 2nd rounder a next year at this point.

Reading after that Lynch thought that Cleveland was pulling everyone's chain with the Trubisky talk. And if you think about it I bet this spooked Chicago, which ended up working in our favor.

Great article. My friend sent me the link earlier this morning (Peter got his click). These guys were bold to let Peter King sit in with them. I appreciate how Lynch, Shanahan and Marathe work together. I'm also fascinated about how Shanahan does his player evaluations. It's refreshing to know that they seem competent.

Lynch is taking the bull by the horns. It's great.

Peter King hit a grand slam with this edition of MMQB...it is long, but it's fascinating. To get the blow-by-blow account of how things went down is phenomenal. Tell you what, Paraag is a stud...not hard to see why Lynch loves the guy. Amazing to see how decisions can come down to the last few seconds...wow. Lynch proved any naysayers wrong, IMHO. I love how Shanahan got his QB...lots of doubters about the pick, but Beathard's the guy who impressed him the most. Coach said he's a lot like Cousins...now, if we get Kirk next year, he'll have two guys who're incredibly smart who can execute his offense. Think about that. Back to MMQB, PK really did a heckuva job putting the sequence of events in proper context. Wish I could've seen/heard the draft room go berserk after they got Foster...that's magical stuff.

With Lynch's previous media background, I think he was more comfortable with King embedded. This was Lynch selling the Niners organization as the changed, competent, confident organization.

I don't think the embedment will be available again.
