Time to get defensive

They will. Free agency isn't over and the draft is coming. It's also not a one year rebuild. It might take some time to get all the pieces.

I think that's the point. Shanahan needs vets with experience to implement his offense. They are bringing in guys for just about every unit who will make the transition easier. Effective and efficient offenses need perfect execution.

It seems like they are content with building the defense through the draft. Saleh is going to be constructing his defensive identity, so he needs young, athletic guys who can be coached up to do what his scheme needs.

I agree with you here and believe its time to turn our focus to the Defensive side of the ball.

I want to believe that we went heavy offense in FA to build some type of connection to the offensive schemes KS will be implementing. Granted it will be a new group of players, KS and Lynch are doing the smart thing with signing players familiar with the offense. With us getting quite a few pieces in play for the offensive side of the ball we need to focus on Salehs Defense.

The Defensive side of the ball has some holes but there is a lot of potential there. DL and CB in my opinion has a lot of potential. AA and Defo are just starting to learn the nuances of the NFL, and I really like Ward, Redmond, Tartt, and Robinson's potential.
LB is a bit concerning since we do not know Bow's ability once he returns. Smith is a nice piece as the Will, Bow as the Mike, and I am assuming Lynch/Brooks at the Sam. I would really like to see 9ers reach for Zach Brown who could really start in place of Lynch/ Brooks. He can do it all, and can cover space quickly. I see him starting in the Sam LB spot, allowing Lynch to put his hand in the dirt as a Pass Rusher and do what he does best get to the QB.

Are we going to pull a high ticket defender from free agency? I keep waiting to hear something on Sheard or Poe, since it sounds like Hightower to Tennessee

Spot on...I said that from day 1...ShanaLynch to target offense via free agency (WR, TE, FB) and the draft for the defense (NT, ER, OLB, CB).

It's not just that, there will be more defensive players getting cut around June and after pre-season that can help this team.

aaand Sheard to the colts...

It's coming homie. They may not like the guys you listed. Draft and maybe next year. Can't solve every issue in one free agency.
