The #49ers were one of the worst tackling teams in the NFL last season. So far this year they've only missed five tackles as a team, which is good for second in the preseason.

Tampa Bay's roster is god awful and they just gave their GM a 4 yr extension despite no playoff appearances and 1 winning season in the 5 years he's had control of personnel.

Anything less than a top 3 defense with our talent should be considered a failure.

Talent improvement is a big part of what a DC does. X's and O's, are a lesser part of being a good DC. On defense- talent trumps a lot of things.

It depends on your scheme and ability to call X's and O's. Like comparing Kyle's WCO to the college offense over in Arizona. Same with Bellicheat and Fangio compared to Saleh's scheme and ability to master X's and O's, game plans and in-game adjustments. Some DC's can get the most out of poor personnel (see Kyle last year) because of their ability to coach, develop, game plan and adjust. Others are far more reliant on talent and lack the development skills and X's and O's. Now that we have more than enough talent, let's see if Saleh can match that with X's and O's with a ton of help from Kocurek and Woods and get this to a top 10 defense. No excuses!

BTW. Check out the wide 9 with 4 DL (one even drops back in coverage). Like I said before, we're just getting back to our roots.

Bosa, Ford and Kwon haven't done anything in August or in the preseason games.

A lot of the same crew from last year are looking a lot better throughout the whole off season.

Kocurek and Woods seem to be the difference...
